DevOps Systems Engineer 

Lunar Energy is looking for an experienced DevOps and Systems Engineer with experience in AWS, Azure and on-premises infrastructure to perform a range of responsibilities related to the development, deployment, and management of software applications and the underlying infrastructure. Lunar Energy was founded to transition homes to 100% clean energy—making our electricity greener, our air cleaner and our energy more safe, secure and reliable for all. On a given day at Lunar, you’ll likely…

  • Infrastructure Design and Deployment: Collaborate with development and operations teams to design and implement scalable and reliable infrastructure solutions both in cloud and on-premises environments. This involves selecting appropriate services, configuring network and storage resources, and managing infrastructure as code.
  • Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD): Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes. Implement and manage tools like Jenkins, Git, Azure, and AWS CodePipeline to enable efficient software delivery.
  • Configuration Management: Utilize configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to automate the provisioning and configuration of infrastructure resources. Ensure consistency and compliance across various environments.
  • Monitoring and Performance Optimization: Implement monitoring solutions like AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus, or Datadog to proactively monitor infrastructure health, application performance, and system metrics. Analyze data to identify bottlenecks and optimize resource utilization.
  • Security and Compliance: Collaborate with security teams to implement and maintain security best practices across the infrastructure. Conduct regular security assessments, implement access controls, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Incident Management and Troubleshooting: Respond to incidents and troubleshoot issues related to infrastructure and application performance. Perform root cause analysis and implement remediation measures to prevent future occurrences.
  • Documentation and Collaboration: Maintain comprehensive documentation regarding infrastructure configurations, deployment processes, and operational procedures. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to share knowledge, resolve issues, and drive improvements.
  • Cloud Migration and Hybrid Infrastructure Management: Assist in the migration of on-premises infrastructure and applications to the cloud. Manage hybrid environments, ensuring seamless integration between cloud and on-premises components.
  • Performance Testing and Optimization: Conduct load testing, stress testing, and capacity planning exercises to ensure the infrastructure can handle expected workloads. Identify areas for optimization and make recommendations for resource scaling.
  • Stay Updated with Emerging Technologies: Keep up-to-date with the latest trends, tools, and technologies in the DevOps and cloud computing space. Continuously evaluate new solutions that can enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Manage and maintain various databases in Azure, AWS and on-premise

Desired Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience working in highly scalable distributed datacenter or cloud computing
  • Experience designing cloud infrastructure for robustness, security, and observability
  • Strong knowledge of AWS and Azure Cloud services
  • Expertise in automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD
  • Expertise in AWS foundations including compute, networking, storage, observability and security
  • Ability to work onsite 4 days per week

Our Compensation Philosophy: Our goal is to ensure that all Lunar Energy employees are fairly compensated. Please note that the salary range information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position provided pursuant to the Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act for California applicants. The salary range estimate for this position depending on level of experience is: $120,000 - $150,000 USD.

The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package & benefits, will be at the company’s sole discretion, and determined by factors including but not limited to years of experience, job level, geographic location, and other relevant business considerations.
