WORK SHIFT

DAY (United States of America)

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required, with a preference for a degree in electrical engineering, although all engineering disciplines are eligible.
  • Prior experience in wafer probing/dicing processes is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with any programming language (e.g., Visual Basic) is desired.
  • Responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining wafer probing, dicing, inspection, and testing processes for 100mm and 150mm wafers and dispositioning of non-conforming wafers.
  • Knowledge of Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI)/Review processes, such as defect analysis and interpreting inspection data. Familiarity with Rudolph/ONTO AOI equipment is also a plus.
  • The engineer is responsible for improving inspection recipes on the Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) tool to detect defects in the wafer. - Develop recipes for probing, dicing, and testing processes
  • Knowledge of SPC to troubleshoot SPC fails and handle abnormal processing deviations from the baseline.
  • The engineer will act as an area expert in the dicing processes and equipment and bring up tools for production by working with the maintenance team and vendors to resolve tool issues.
  • Create and revise training and operation documentation. The engineer must write protocols and reports to qualify new processes and train operators and technicians on new and updated process specifications.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The dicing engineer oversees all processes in the Wafer Fab Dicing area necessary for electrical testing, dicing, and inspecting silicon wafers and silicon wafers bonded to glass manufactured in the Merit Sensor Wafer Fab.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED

1. Performs routine technical work requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out engineering tasks.
2. Uses limited amounts of discretionary judgment in making decisions regarding technical alternatives.
3. Performs work of some higher technical level for training purposes, and work is screened to ensure correct application of scientific principles.
4. Works on special projects, writes ECN's, and may create prototypes under general direction.
5. Performs other related duties and tasks as required.

SUMMARY OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education and/or work-related experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or technical field related to the department of assignment or industry, or a Master’s Degree.
• Ability to apply analytical skills and scientific technical principles in problem solving and development.
• Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database and other applicable software programs.

• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member.
• Working knowledge of United States and international standards as applicable to the department.
