Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Must obtain within six months and maintain Basic Life Support certification. Attend and complete all program identified training.
  • The incumbent may be assigned a government cell phone and may be required to be in an On-Call status during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds is required.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • This position may require temporary duty (TDY) business travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. Certifying organization varies on location. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
  • Incumbent may be required to work later in the day and/or on weekends, as scheduled by the supervisor.
  • The work requires physical exertion that includes lifting of moderately heavy items, to include treatment tables, exercise equipment, research data collection equipment, and military equipment used by Soldiers.
  • The work also requires exertion to perform exercises used in physical performance and rehabilitation, including all events in the Army Combat Fitness Test.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Dietitian (Holistic Health and Fitness):
Degree:
Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree in the field of dietetics, food, nutrition, food service management, institution management, or related science. The curriculum must have been in accordance with the qualifying requirements established by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) (formerly American Dietetic Association (ADA) prior to January 1, 2012) in effect at the time of graduation. The educational program must have been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
OR
Completion of a coordinated undergraduate program, internship, or other clinical component approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) (formerly American Dietetic Association (ADA)) for dietitians or nutritionists.
OR
Professional registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).

Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0630 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assessing nutrition related concerns of individuals or groups, providing nutritional counseling or interventions, educating on performance nutrition, and developing and monitoring an organization's nutrition program.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
