Department Summary:

MITRE's Digital Adoption Team seeks a self-starting Digital Adoption and Change Management, Lead to lead the Digital Adoption team within R125, as a program/service manager and group lead. This position is ideal for a motivated, self-starting candidate who wants to learn and lead a team while working on highly impactful technology projects. This is a hybrid position, and is located in McLean, VA.

Specifically, the Digital Adoption and Change Management, Lead will support the development and execution of change management and adoption strategies supporting high priority Enterprise Computing, Information, and Security (ECIS)projects. The Digital Adoption and Engagement Lead will be responsible for developing and managing organization-wide communications and oversee the Digital Adoption Community of Excellence or CoE, including MITRE's digital adoption platform. The Digital Adoption and Engagement Lead will also help create and execute training and development plans for MITRE staff, helping to ensure the adoption of digital systems across the organization.

As a Group Leader, the Digital Adoption and Change Management, Lead responsibilities include hiring, career development, and management of group staff; leadership of projects within the focus areas of the group; and delivery of high-quality technical work products that enable the accomplishment of appropriate sponsor strategic and project level outcomes.

The Group Leader will also participate in shaping the group and department's role in and its delivery on both knowledge management, digital adoption, and change management; Contribute to department, division, center, and/or corporate initiatives; Support staff in understanding and navigating administrative procedures and their department, division, center, and corporate mission and strategy; Communicate relevant information to staff.

This Digital Adoption and Change Management, Lead position is a Principal step position, and we welcome applications from staff at the Lead and Principal step level and above to apply. Lead step GL positions typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience. Successful GL candidates are effective at communicating with various management levels within MITRE, with MITRE sponsors, and with potential sponsoring organizations, recognizing and following through on opportunities to apply the competencies of their groups.

Roles and Responsibilities:

In this dynamic, fast-moving role, key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Digital Adoption Service Team in furthering digital adoption, change management, and project management practices throughout the ECIS organization through the development and delivery of specific methodologies, tools, communications, and digital adoption platform content.
  • Helping to develop MITRE ECIS's long-range Digital Adoption Strategy, and working with senior executive teams to obtain organizational buy-in.
  • Reporting to Department and Division Leadership, to present OCM strategies, plans, and findings.
  • Leading the development and implementation of change management and communications plans to support the ECIS projects, services, and tools, and other ECIS priorities.
  • Developing cross-system strategies to improve the user's experience across their business lifecycle.
  • Overseeing the delivery of our Digital Adoption Platform Program and Community of Excellence.
  • Developing key messages around the critical impacts of change happening across MITRE (both technical and business related in nature).
  • Creating visually appealing presentations on a variety of topics to support MITRE-wide projects.
  • Tracking action items, and compiling inputs into precise and accurate final documents.
  • Developing emails, memos, one-pagers, and graphics to promulgate key changes within Finance.
  • Serving as an integrator between project management and change management activities for key projects across ECIS.
  • Serve as a direct supervisor for the digital adoption team providing expert guidance and direction as a leader and partner to aid in appropriate staff project/assignment alignment; identify appropriate work opportunities; conduct regular performance and development conversations; prepare performance assessments and development plans; mentor and advocate for staff; provide recognition and facilitate routine home management actions.
  • Manage the service budget including staffing, resources, training and travel, and other direct costs pertaining to the Digital Adoption service budget.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success at leading and executing organizational change management initiatives as the key point of contact.
  • Demonstrated experience leading people and projects.
  • Substantial technical background with ability to apply new innovations across a range of technical domains applicable to the group.
  • Ability to build, retain, and grow high performance staff and manage teams in potentially disparate locations.
  • Proven ability to recruit and develop a top-quality team with a commitment to enhancing Inclusion and Diversity.
  • Familiarity with, application of, and mentoring of MITRE behaviors: taking risks, being agile, and fast responsiveness to high priority needs.
  • Exceptional ability to write impactful communications
  • Must effectively apply strong self-organization, attention to detail, and time management skills, with considerable emphasis on self-initiation, independent decision making, accuracy and follow through on a broad range of tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and the ability to operate and team with MITRE management, staff, and clients.
  • Experience developing comprehensive digital adoption strategies.
  • Experience supporting strategic, enterprise-wide communications.
  • Prosci Change Management certification strongly required.
