Digital Communications & Project Management Specialist

The Internal and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Communications team within Marketing & Communications is looking for a Digital Communications & Project Management Specialist. This individual will collaborate with teammates on the execution of employee communication campaigns that support The Hartford's strategic objectives and vision. A key aspect of this role will be to manage and maintain the company's intranet site, which includes building and publishing daily news content. In addition, perform project management for enterprise-wide communication initiatives.

Successful candidates will have excellent project management capabilities with strong written/verbal/web communication skills with the ability to consult with various stakeholders to execute project plans that drive measurable outcomes. Must be enthusiastic, organized and able to prioritize work, manage multiple fast-moving projects and meet deadlines.

***This role will sit in Hartford 2 days a week with 3 days remote.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Leads and manages the trafficking of internal communications projects; checks requests for accuracy, identifies any gaps or conflicts and resolves in an efficient manner to meet deadlines.
  • Develop project plans for enterprise campaigns, contribute to the overall communication strategy and execution, and develop, manage and implement initiative-specific strategies and plans that drive measurable outcomes.
  • Procures, uploads and manages web content, including choosing imagery and building content for our intranet site and email newsletters.
  • Partners with the Lead Intranet Site editor on placement of news content and publishes daily news.
  • Pitches story ideas that are timely and/or related to the overarching communication department priorities.
  • Writes compelling headlines and content for internal communications campaigns that drive intended outcomes.
  • Coordinates content flow from other offices and departments; monitors internal social channels for newsworthy employee blogs and makes recommendations on content to elevate to our intranet site.
  • Builds and distributes high-visibility email communications that support internal communication priorities.
  • Manages editorial plan for enterprise-wide digital signage and participates on a governance committee.
  • Creates graphic elements that visually tell a story in support of communication campaigns or executive presentations while aligning to the brand standards; examples may include slideshows, PPTs, digital display boards, etc.
  • Tracks, measures and analyzes audience engagement across all channels. Prepares reports for senior leadership.
  • Supports the execution of large-scale events/programs, including town halls, leadership meetings and other employee activities. Takes event photos for online use.
  • Partners with Communication Leads, Project Managers and other Internal Communications staff on assignments in support of a wide variety of enterprise communication campaigns; including how best to convey accurate, thoughtful and persuasive messages to desired audiences across multiple media platforms.

Skills and Experience Needed:
  • 3+ years of experience in corporate communications, marketing or relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, such as communications, marketing, advertising, PR, journalism.
  • Prior experience managing projects (formal or informal), coordinating activities and resolving issues to ensure timely and accurate execution.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, switching from one project to another at a moment's notice and working under pressure and with deadlines.
  • Strong written/verbal/web communications skills. Expertise in communications to different audiences across channels.
  • Formal or informal experience analyzing data and recognizing trends to best provide recommended improvements.
  • Experience with the SharePoint platform, Adobe Photoshop and Salesforce Marketing Cloud preferred but not required.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$64,640 - $102,960
