The Opportunity
MLT’s Marketing & Communications team is seeking an innovative content creator who is adept at verbal and visual representations to tell compelling stories on multiple media channels. The Communications Associate’s will support our Racial Equity at Work team. Additional responsibilities for this role include content development for MLT’s website, e-newsletters, and social media platforms. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional editorial and writing skills as well as the ability to simultaneously engage with multiple internal and external stakeholders, such as MLT colleagues or contracted vendors who support our work. The Communications Associate collaborates with key stakeholders on our Partnerships, Programs, Alumni, and Events teams to develop communications deliverables that support MLT’s new and ongoing initiatives.Â
We seek a creative thinker who appreciates the different approaches to developing content that resonates with MLT’s various constituencies from Alumni to business partners as well as to a wide variety of stakeholders who support MLT’s mission. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented with a keen awareness of current events and able to quickly develop fresh and relevant content. This individual is energized by engaging with MLT’s community and committed to working towards our vision of empowering the next generation of diverse leaders and transforming society. They should also have knowledge of and feel comfortable discussing different areas of DEI (such as race equity, etc.).
This position is a hybrid role that is based in our Bethesda, Maryland office and reports to MLT’s Associate Director of Communications.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Work with internal stakeholders and external partners to develop and execute deliverables for MLT’s B2B initiatives, particularly MLT Racial Equity at Work program partners, to be measured against their progress in driving OKRs and KPIs.
- Develop social media messaging for regular posts on multiple channels, including creating original content and engaging with relevant third-party material
- Support MLT’s content development and distribution needs, including those initiated by our Insights team
- Manage a robust editorial calendar
- Conceptualize, create, and publish content such as blogs and case studies, including feature stories about our corporate partners
- Possess the ability to utilize data and analytics when appropriate to steer content development strategy and evaluate content performance
- Manage content updates on MLT’s website
- Manage vendor relationships with MLT’s website developer and graphic designers to create final deliverables
- Additional responsibilities as required
Required Qualifications
- Excellent writing and storytelling abilities, with a passion for crafting impactful content
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience creating digital content utilizing CMS and Social Media Management tools to publish
- Strong project management capabilities, with the capacity to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to multitask, managing and prioritizing projects to satisfy competing deadlines
- Attention to detail, ability to maintain brand standards, and proficient editing skills
- Interest in furthering racial equity, DEI, and social justice work
Nice to have Skills & Experiences
- Fluency with WordPress platform, experience with Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva
- Demonstrated ability to effectively integrate graphics, photography, and videography when creating content
