Digital Communications Specialist

The Specialist, Digital Communications executes a full range of projects in support of Enviva’s global branding, public relations and content strategy. This role is responsible for creating content for Enviva’s social media channels and other communications platforms to engage and educate key audiences, advance the company’s strategic priorities, and support the company’s growth. Â
This position is a highly collaborative role that will work closely with internal and external partners including the Communications team; other departments, particularly Sales and Marketing, Sustainability, Legal, and Corporate Development; associations representing the biomass and forest products industries; influencers; and public relations and government relations firms working on the company’s behalf. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in corporate communications, social media campaign work, crisis, agency work, and/or public affairs sectors.Â
Responsibilities
- Creative story telling: Partnering with the creative team, develop engaging communications across numerous content mediums and forms, including drafting, editing, and coordinating reviews of news releases, media statements, advertising, social media posts, emails, briefings, Q&As, talking points, comms plans and newsletter content accompanied by compelling visual and multimedia messaging for the company’s digital channels when applicable.Â
- Partnering with the content team, craft and support an editorial calendar and content flow to cover relevant industry news, strategic initiatives, and evergreen content.
- Ensure digital assets and products represent the company’s global brand and are consistent with established branding and content guidelines.Â
- Manage the company’s ongoing and growing social media presence, including day-to-day activity on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.Â
- Recommend and execute social media campaigns in support of targeted programs, projects, or policy issues.Â
- Proactively establish and maintain online relationships with key lawmakers, regulators, industry experts, customers, and influencers.
- Identify the most appropriate performance goals for each content channel and improve performance against those metrics.Â
- Assist in managing and updating the company’s narrative across all channels, including our website, Intranet, and blog.
- Track, monitor, and measure ROI of digital initiatives and trends using Google Analytics and other measurement tools. Â
- Monitor and stay abreast of trends and best practices in PR, social media and digital marketing and recommend strategies to drive growth.
- Assist with copy editing and writing for brand and media teams
QualificationsÂ
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; communications or journalism focus preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a communications function for a global company, association, or division; social media or digital marketing focus preferred.
- Exceptional oral, written, and proofreading skills, including the ability to present information in a concise and compelling manner, and to respond calmly and effectively to negative or hostile questioning.
- Demonstrated experience supporting communications strategies through social media, with proven track record of positive impact.
- Sound judgment with a strong record of working directly with senior executives.
- Proficiency leveraging social media effectiveness and web analytics tools such as Meltwater, HubSpot, Sprout Social, and Google Analytics
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, HTML and WordPress.
Preferred Qualifications - What Will Set You Apart
- Knowledge of the forest products sector or energy sector, with emphasis on renewable energy and climate policy.
Working Conditions
- Extended Hours or On-Call Expectations: Ability to assist with crisis communications which could take place during evenings, weekends without notice
- Hybrid work typically with a minimum of 3 days a week in the office, with the ability to work 2 days a week remotely, but flexible on potential of more in office work as needed
Physical Requirements
- Corporate office setting with 95% desk work, will have sit/stand desk
