Aerospace is seeking an innovative and proactive Senior Project Leader in the Digital Engineering Transformation (DET) Office within the Space Systems Architect Division. The Digital Engineering Transformation Office is focused on leading and managing Aerospace efforts in support of the customer's Digital Engineering/ Transformation branch in Enterprise Interoperability within the Space Systems Integration Office. This role includes leading and developing validation tools and techniques for architectural models, data integration techniques and tools, and leading the tool development for adoption of advanced architectural methods to engineer and evaluate an integrated space systems enterprise for SSC and DoD.
The DET program office Senior Project Leader will lead, build, and plan the work with Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) teams to achieve the vision of a fully digital engineered Space Force. This vision spans the gamut from model-based systems engineering, building libraries of workflows, identifying the Authoritative Source of Truth (ASOT) data and metadata that rides along with a system across the product/acquisition lifecycle to streamline the systems engineering artifacts and products that drive decision making. This is a cross-cutting opportunity to significantly influence how the Space Systems Center and USSF conduct and perform the business of space systems acquisition!
What You'll Be Doing
  • Development and employment of tools for system-of-system engineering (SoSE) and architecting, resilient systems engineering, cost/efficiency analysis, and exploitation/integration with commercial capabilities
  • Coordination and leadership of a ETG team that will develop tools to validate architecture models, develop tools for extracting data from models to data schema (e.g., JSON, RDF), and develop tools to generate guidance on use of model composition and metamodels
  • Scopes requirements for and initiates acquisition of technical support from appropriate corporate resources including cost and economic or market analysis specialists, as appropriate
  • Monitors and may assist in development of budgets and other resource allocations to accomplish tasks
  • Acts as senior mentor to team members, providing orientation, technical guidance and development insight
  • Participate in new business and/or technical planning efforts
  • Collaboration across SMC, other government agencies, FFRDCs and SETAs

What You Need to be Successful - Senior Project Leader
Minimum Requirements:
  • MS or PhD degree in engineering, computer science, or related field
  • Typically requires 12 years relevant work experience which may include: model-based systems engineering approaches, systems architecture, systems integration and/or systems engineering, software assurance, project technical leadership, web development.
  • Experience with systems architecting tools such as Cameo, Sparx EA, or other similar tools
  • Team leadership experience
  • Ability to teach and engage others to adopt new practices and tools
  • Some travel may be required
  • Current Top-Secret + SCI clearance is required

How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Proficiency with data and tool integration/interoperability, cloud-based technologies (e.g., web-based API development) and collaboration environments (e.g., the Atlassian suite)
  • Technical achievement in concept exploration, analysis, architecting, or prototyping, demonstration, and program planning
  • Experience with digital engineering implementation with a government customer
  • Involvement with USSF missions and architectures
  • Broad familiarity with the Space Systems Command, Intelligence Community, Civil, and commercial space systems, ground systems, missions, and architectures
  • High interest, enthusiasm, and motivation in addressing future national space security challenges
  • Willingness to work in high pace environment and lead teams with diverse technical backgrounds

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
