SUMMER INTERNSHIP : June 5, 2023 - August 18, 2023 (minimum requirement of 20 hours per week)

Nucleus Global, a leading independent healthcare communications group with approximately 800 employees around the globe, is offering paid internships for a select few candidates from June 5, 2023, 2023 through August 18, 2023. Our seasoned creative and digital staff at Synaptik Digital are ready to mentor and eager to share their many years of knowledge and expertise with a group of passionate, inquisitive interns who are interested in learning more about our industry and potential future careers in the creative and digital side of medical communications.

With guidance and support from senior Digital colleagues, the Digital Intern will execute components of web and database development projects. They will support the Digital team by contributing to the creation of web interfaces, database modelling, digital deliverables, meeting materials, and the activities related to the production of digital projects. The Digital Intern may develop fundamental skills related to internal and external stakeholder communications, gain experience in a fast-paced team dynamic, and complete assigned tasks that contribute to the success of the business. 

Learning experiences may include:

• Generic web development methodologies, OOP theories and implementation of technical outputs
• Quality assurance and process of database design
• Managing non-complex projects
• Training and ability to use GIT
• Using JIRA as a collaboration tool
• Using diverse software applications and digital platforms
• Understanding production pipeline processes and best practices
• Developing applications (coding, programming)
• Researching, investigating, and fixing a wide range of technical issues
• Proactively learning about new technologies

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with tasks supporting project-related deliverables (which may include, but are not limited to):
• Documenting and testing new software applications
• Using UML to design database relations
• Working with the design teams to implement new projects wireframe and functional requirements documents
• Working w/ the QA team to work through QA engineer process
• Learning of various web frameworks and creating projects with one of the frameworks
• Participate in internal team meetings/calls and trainings, as appropriate
• Scheduling meetings based on team member availability
• Preparing meeting notes and drafting summaries for follow-up communications
• Assist with internal projects to support company goals
• Complete and present a collaborative internship project to support company business objectives

• Currently matriculated student in good standing; preference given to students:
  • Entering Senior year of academic program
  • Majoring in computer science, software engineering, or related field degree or “bootcamp” program
• Minimum cumulative GPA must be at least 3.000 (on 4.0 scale)
• Experience with one or more of the following languages: PHP, Python, C#
• Knowledge of and understanding of data structures and algorithms
• Must be eager to learn, self-motivated, flexible, accountable and effectively able to handle multiple tasks at one time
• Demonstrate behavior expected of a professional member of Nucleus Global
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast changing environment with a strong attention to detail, communicate effectively and work well in a cross functional environment
• Experience in using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Experience using Visual Studio Code and similar IDE
• Excellent interpersonal, organization, and written and verbal communication skills
• Professional letter of recommendation (academic advisor, professor, etc.)
• Submission of essay answering two of the following:
  • Why do you want this intern experience?
  • What do you hope to achieve through this internship?
  • Describe the importance of teamwork and describe an experience where you were an effective team member
