Digital Marketing Communications & PR Specialist

Location: Flexible and in any state where the firm has an office.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Manager Marketing Communications, the Digital Marketing Communications and PR Specialist works with the firm's marketing team to develop, deliver, and strategize firm digital marketing content. This individual will serve as the primary caretaker of the firm's social media channels, manage website updates, and draft PR content. They will be responsible for writing and editing in support of various multi-channel digital campaigns and tracking earned media activity. This individual will also develop and produce regular KPI and analytics reports regarding content marketing and social media performance and strategy. The role operates as part of the Marketing Communications function within the Marketing & Business Development Department, and a successful candidate will engage independently, proactively, and collaboratively with all members of the department, firm practice group leaders, and individual attorneys.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit, and post social media content, press releases, news items, and internal newsletters using distinct firm voice and branded graphics to maintain brand integrity and message consistency.
  • Review, edit, and distribute attorney-authored digital marketing communications content such as alerts, newsletters, and blogs to ensure that content incorporates thought leadership best practices and is consistent with firm writing style guidelines.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing the firm's website, SEO, social media, and other digital communication strategies.
  • Monitor the firm's social media to flag any reputational issues, potential lead generation activity, and monitor and assess competitors' digital presence within legal marketing to stay abreast of trends.
  • Monitor, track, and report on earned media mentions involving the firm.
  • Analyze the firm's KPIs and create visual reports which are actionable for internal stakeholders.
  • Edit video projects as needed.
  • Coach and provide social media tutorials for attorneys on digital self-promotion and branding (most prominently via LinkedIn).
  • Identify ways to improve and distribute content through existing or new channels to strengthen relationships with clients/prospects and other key external audiences.
  • Manage editorial calendars related to the Marketing Communications function to ensure stakeholders follow through on agreed-upon deliverables.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Prior Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Preferred studies in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
  • Preferred, 1-3 years of marketing and/or business development experience in a law firm or similar professional services industry.
  • Proven writing skills, strong presentation skills, and an exacting attention to detail in all work product.
  • Ability to articulate complex messages with clarity and brevity to deliver clear and persuasive writing.
  • Social media campaign and advertisement expertise, especially LinkedIn.
  • Familiar with Google Analytics / Google Data Studio or similar website analytics platform - Certification is preferred or willingness/aptitude to become certified.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, content management software, and knowledge of HTML and CSS. Familiarity with Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or similar social media management platforms will be a plus.
  • Basic Photoshop skills, including editing text and basic photo editing desired. Advanced design skills are a plus. Video production and editing skills are a plus.
  • Ability to establish credibility with legal personnel at all levels of the firm with a commitment to client service.
  • Pragmatic, diplomatic, and resourceful, with the ability to adapt quickly to different situations and personalities.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure - responding to rapid shifts in priorities and program activities and using discretion and judgment in a professional environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with a high level of self-initiative and minimal supervision.
  • Ability to contribute to the overall growth of a team by collaborating with colleagues and facilitating teamwork.
  • Excellent work ethic with a positive, proactive style. Must be flexible and willing to work additional hours as needed.
