We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Digital Publishing Director on our Publishing and Mission Operations team. This position can be hybrid (working from both office and home), with a schedule to be determined by business needs.

As a Digital Publishing Director you will be responsible for the digitalinventory and access management of all advertising sales products within theJAMA Network digital ecosphere. The Director will work to support the strategicinitiative of the VP Publishing Sales and Director of Advertising Sales;Pharmaceutical & Devices Team and the Health Systems and Recruitment Team. Responsibilities include management of digitalinventory and product generation for the JAMA Network publications and the JAMACareer Center. Also responsible for short and long-term financial objectives for digitalinitiatives, managing and training of the sales force pertaining to digitaleducation, and assessing business performance against industry and AMAfinancial quality standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Digital Ecosystem Management

  • Drive publishing digital initiatives through management of digital objectives, status, tactical and results-driven tracking on revenue-driving initiatives.
  • Support advertising strategic departmental goals and processes of digital assets to ensure unified and accurate performance.
  • Collaborte with the VP Sales, to rebuild the digital-first organization for JAMA Network publishing growth. including creating new channels internally to best support advancements in digital publishing and advertising.
  • Collaborate with VP and fellow publishing leaders (Directors and Managers) of all levels within the different publishing and editorial departments to achieve revenue goals.
  • Collaborate with VP Sales, Sales Directors, Sales Managers, and Marketing Services Managers to ensure appropriate practical research, promotion, training, and sales accountability are executed for success.
  • Design and implement digital marketing strategies, and analyze data traffic and user metrics, to ensure the consistency of digital tone and presence; build digital growth consistent with market conditions and market share improvement.
  • Lead tactical operations to increase product demand, enhance sales, identify additional sales channels, attract traffic to the company website, and promote an online presence.
  • Oversee new product creation, platform, and product vendor relationships and sales support tools; this includes serving as the main stakeholder in digital organizational projects, such as consulting projects, that evaluate the current landscape.

Digital Strategy

  • Maximize digital revenue through improved promotion strategies.
  • Define a digital solutions and marketing strategy and prioritized roadmap to assess the present and future needs, trends, problems, and revenue opportunities for all stakeholders.
  • Create multi-year trajectory to improve and develop advanced digital resources, tracking mechanisms, and post-campaign representation for revenue support in addition to building the business unit for internal growth.
  • Develop resources, systems, and tools to improve efficiency and modernize the digital ecosystem across all publications and JAMA Career Center while maximizing revenue development.
  • Change agent with experience identifying areas of improvement and implementing actionable solutions.
  • Dedication toknowledge through IAB Standards, attending market insights and conventions tostay current on trends and growth opportunities; helping to bring JAMA closerto current digital standards and consumer revenue trends

Advertising External Support

  • Maintain high-level marketplace visibility through contact with customers, agencies, and associations alongside sales management and sales representatives.
  • Improve the client-facing relationship and resources to support the ever-changing digital landscape keeping up with client and market digital demands/expectations. Travel with sales management and representatives on selected client-facing sales calls.
  • Visit with client and agency customers or prospects independently as needed.
  • Attend annual meetings and conferences for leadership support and revenue growth.

People Management

  • Provide appropriate training, guidance, and leadership for digital development of the sales management and staff as well as Digital Coordinators to support digital products.
  • Responsible for setting goals, evaluating performance, and developing and advancing staff skills/expertise.
  • Instills a results-focused mindset within the team and demonstrates modern digital acumen.

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor's degree required, a business-related marketing, advertising, or sales discipline preferred.
  2. 10+ years of digital publishing and products and minimum
  3. 5+ years in people management able to develop and grow talent.
  4. Proven ability to build a digital roadmap and help monitze products through a digital lens.
  5. Ability to navigate complex relationships across sales team needs in both internal and external demands.
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed for proactive and timely client-facing needs.
  7. Demonstrated ability to support complex team structures, efficient time management, and organizational skills as top priority.
  8. Proven ability to work with digital systems and social networks in addition to being highly competent in Adobe, Microsoft Office Suite, and other system-based CRM/Reporting systems.
  9. Proven integrity when representing the organization to potential clients, accurately representing team or client needs to sales leadership and clearly articulating the features of the organization with clients.
  10. Some travel required.
  11. AMA's safety and policy protocols require proof of full vaccination against COVID19 for employment at AMA (including booster when eligible). Employees may apply for a religious or medical exemption from getting the vaccine.
