Position Summary

The Digital Solutions Management Intern will help create digital and equipment solutions that create value to our end customers and to Buckman. This is an exciting and impactful role that lies at the intersection of traditional Specialty Chemicals business and exciting new possibilities on the digital side leveraging Artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, Augmented Reality, and other emerging tools. You will be paired with a mentor and get the opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge technology and business model ideas that have the possibility of changing the way we do work and create value for our customers. Aspects of the role can involve the following:
  • Working on digital tools like Augmented Reality to re-envision the way we do service in the field
  • Working on IoT device/solution prototype build, lab testing, validation and completing the assessment report on technical and commercial feasibility. Collaborating extensively with the Digital Solutions Management and development team.
  • Envisioning, collecting input, teeing up and deploying digital "apps" and projects that improve the customer experience and sales force productivity
  • Learning the fundamentals of Product Lifecycle Management including working with external vendors to analyze, report and create innovative support solutions.

The role does not require someone to have a deep digital or equipment background, but requires an engineering or scientific background, digital dexterity, ability to work with varied stakeholders ranging from sales associates to digital professionals, loads of common sense and the right attitude to learn. Visa status is not a limiter for candidates with the right qualifications and background, provided they are legal residents of the US. Exceptional performance can lead to a permanent role at Buckman.

Basic Qualifications
  • A junior or senior in a BS program in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related scientific/technical field
  • Digital dexterity: must be a "digital native" who is comfortable using digital tools and solutions, has a basic level of understanding required to interface with the digital professionals, and has the aptitude and willingness to learn and grow in this area
  • Strong communications skills in English across all levels of the organization


Preferred Qualifications
  • A second year student at a M.S. (or equivalent experience) or MBA program
  • In depth knowledge or prior experience with development and deployment of digital solutions involving Internet of Things, Data analytics, etc.
  • Prior experience in Digital or equipment marketing including tee up and execution of digital concepts, digital product life cycle management etc.
