SUMMARY/SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Project Manager is responsible for all technical and financial aspects of the assigned projects, from order acceptance by Sensia through to client sign-off. The duties will also require experience in proposal and estimate generation, client negotiations, contract review and sub-contractor communications. For large projects, the Project Manager will have Technical Leads assigned to closely supervise the technical sub-sections of the projects.
The successful Project Manager at Sensia Automation will possess deep O&G industry and application expertise, a strong commitment to technical excellence, and professional project execution combined with exceptional leadership qualities, commercial and technical expertise, and the ability to communicate and implement a standard of excellence in delivering successful projects and services to our customers.
Principally, our Project Managers lead and manage teams of engineers and technical professionals engaged in the Digital Transformation and automaton hardware and software engineering, design and consulting engineering, and project delivery throughout the US and Canada.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Functional
    • Responsible for the Financial results, schedule, quality and customer satisfaction of the projects assigned.
    • May participate in development of business team strategic plan.
    • Performs all aspects of project management functions for customer projects, including commercial responsibility as well as technical.
    • Manages execution of assigned projects within margin targets.
    • Manages and reports all financial aspects of assigned projects.
    • May apply complex and advanced project management and scheduling techniques.
    • Apply O&G Industry Lessons Learned to projects execution
  • Leadership
    • Leads efforts of project personnel on complex projects.
    • Coaches and helps develop less-experienced engineers assigned to projects.
    • Leads project teams typically employing up to 20 engineering professionals and coordinates activities with support teams and other capabilities.
    • May lead internal project process improvement efforts.
  • Interpersonal
    • High level of accountability and customer focus.

    • Responsible for resource scheduling to meet project plan requirements.
    • Negotiates change orders with customers.
    • Serves as the primary interface with customer, sales and other Sensia/Rockwell Automation entities for assigned projects.
    • Supports an environment conducive to successful team interaction.
    • Must have excellent negotiation skills.
  • Business
    • Responsible for the plan, budget, structure, schedule and staffing for projects which are of significant and strategic importance to the customer and corporation.
    • Acts as Sensia representative for assigned projects.
    • Complete responsibility for successful outcome of projects. Manages single projects up to $4M and a multiple project portfolio of up to 10 projects with a total value up to $10M.
    • Responsible for managing subcontracts that include labor and/or fixed price deliverables.
    • Responsible for meeting project schedule, margin, and customer satisfaction targets.
    • Builds partnerships at the business management level of key customers.
    • Often leads efforts to prepare commercial strategy for complex system applications.
    • Responsible for following all applicable corporate, company, governmental and regulatory policies and procedures as appropriate for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Engineering discipline or equivalent knowledge; with further education in business administration, operations, project management, and coaching.
  • +10 years experience in software design and development, engineering capacity specific to the O&G Industry with four thousand five hundred hours of documented project management experience.
  • Familiarity with various aspects of systems integration (including PLC, HMI, instrumentation, networking, communication, power distribution) is essential
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is mandatory.
  • Hybrid and Agile methodologies experience.
  • Extensive experience with direct customer contact.
  • Experience in the Sensia product portfolio is a plus.
  • +10 years experience in the O&G industry, application or technology knowledge relevant to assigned business.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment where constructive feedback from others is encouraged
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have excellent conflict resolution and people interface skills.
  • Must perform duties in the office as part of a project team.
  • Must be available and willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays to meet customer project commitments.
  • Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial plants, ships, etc.,
  • Possess critical competencies as defined in the Sensia Project Manager Competency Profile.
  • Fluid English speaker. Other languages are a plus.
