Position Summary:

The American Council on Education (ACE) is the major coordinating body for the nation's colleges and universities. ACE is a membership organization that mobilizes the higher education community to shape effective public policy and foster innovative, high-quality practices. With a diverse base of member institutions, ACE represents nearly 1,700 college and university presidents and executives, serving as the only major higher education association to represent all types of U.S. accredited, degree-granting institutions. ACE's mission includes serving 280 minority serving institutions, 25,000 higher education professionals, and 7.7 million students enrolled in colleges and universities. ACE membership extends to all 50 states, Washington DC, Puerto Rico, Guam, and 21 other countries.

The Digital Strategy Specialist collaborates with stakeholders and content producers across the Council to manage content on ACE's main website and other ACE-branded digital properties and initiatives. Working with the Senior Director of Digital Strategy and Marketing, the Digital Strategy Specialist will ensure that ACE's digital offerings are user-friendly, timely and accurate to meet and exceed our goals.

Essential Job Duties or Tasks:

  • Manage the day-to-day content related activities on ACE's main website (acenet.edu) and other ACE-branded digital properties to ensure information is timely, accurate, and meets both web accessibility best practices and ACE brand standards of quality for digital communication, branding, and editorial styles.
  • Consult with stakeholders to ensure web pages are user-friendly and constructed in a manner consistent with ACE standards and provide suggestions for improvement.
  • Support content contributors who use the content management systems (SharePoint and WordPress) to create and edit web pages.
  • Provide web analytics to stakeholders and analyze reporting data to improve search engine optimization (SEO) for web pages or identify needs for new content.
  • Continually monitor ACE's websites in a proactive manner to ensure that information is accurate, content is current, and pages are free of errors.
  • Train content contributors on guidelines and procedures for the ongoing management of web content.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Specialized Knowledge and Competency Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of two to five years of experience in digital communications, marketing, or a related field.
    • An Associates degree with relevant industry certifications may be accepted in place of the Bachelors degree.
  • Experience creating, updating and maintaining web content using a content management system (SharePoint and WordPress preferred).
  • Working knowledge of user interface design, HTML/CSS, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) and strong Microsoft Office/Office 365 skills (SharePoint, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting web analytics using Google Analytics (GA4). Skills with Google Tag Manager and Google Search Console a plus.
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate with a wide variety of staff regarding website content.
  • Must be able to work effectively both as a team member and independently and demonstrate ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work with minimal supervision in a team environment.

Working Conditions/Physical Effort:

This is a hybrid position with a minimum of 2 days per week at 1 Dupont Circle, Washington DC 20036.

Minimal travel required.
