Raytheon Technologies (RTX) has an opening for a Digital Thread Cloud Admin/Platform Engineer (Sr. Manager, Business Systems and Transformation). Individual Contributor Role. Remote Opportunity.
Reporting to the Product Lifecycle Digital Thread Director, the Sr. Cloud Systems Admin/Platform Engineer will be responsible to support infrastructure implementation and service integration activities for the Product Lifecycle Digital Thread Accelerator Lab being designed/built to support the Model-Based Digital Thread Process Capability Center (MBDT PCC) and related Digital Thread initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
The Sr. Cloud Systems Admin/Platform Engineer will be responsible leading the implementation and support of multiple environments across cloud and on-premises data center locations to support Digital Thread initiatives. Additional responsibilities include the day-to-day support of multiple application systems and associated automated capabilities through continuous integration / continuous delivery (CI/CD) methods. The individual will also drive standard processes and governance across the multiple platforms and work environments while partnering with a diverse set of colleagues and stakeholders.

- Mobilize Digital Technologies resources to rapidly deploy infrastructure, applications and services (AWS, Azure) and deliver technology demonstrator platforms in support of the Model-Based Digital Thread Process Capability Center (MBDT PCC) and related Digital Thread Unit initiatives.
- Collaborate with teams across the business units and RTX Corporate to define the platform technologies required to support Digital Thread demonstrators.
- Work with program leadership to establish a demonstrator platform roadmap in the defined areas and drive program backlog refinement and prep for Program Increment (PI) planning
- Act in the role of Product Owner and drive the iteration execution with the responsibilities such as: manage the team backlog, perform iteration planning, just-in-time story elaboration, accepting stories, understand enabler work, participate in team demo and retrospective
- Lead an agile team responsible for continuous delivery of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software applications, open source software (OSS) and custom code into AWS/Azure environments to enable technology evaluations and demonstrations.
- Coordinate with technology providers and RTX functions (Cyberscurity, Global Trade, Legal) to ensure application system deployments are compliant with all RTX Digital Policies and Procedures.
- Oversee the integration of applications systems with user authentication and access management solutions (e.g. Azure AD, Ping Identity) and logging & monitoring solutions (e.g. Splunk, Datadog, ELK)
- Manage virtualized Linux (Ubuntu and Amazon Linux) and Windows (2013 and above) systems
- Ensure patching and upgrades to infrastructure and applications to fix potential security vulnerabilities and introduce new functionalities.
- Enable 50% cycle-time improvement to introduce new digital thread tools/methods by de-risking emerging technologies in the demonstrator platform.
- Drive industrialization and business deployment of tools coming out of the Model-Based Digital Thread Process Capability Center (MBDT PCC)
Required Skill:
- Typically a minimum of 10+ years' experience in design, implementation and administration of IT infrastructure for hardware and systems portfolios and a bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of related work experience and schooling in lieu of degree. Advanced degree and minimum of 8+ years related experience.
- Experience designing and operating highly scalable, secure, high performing systems and platforms
- Prior experience in application management and release methodologies
- Prior experience in application controls and compliance
- Broad-based understanding of cloud platform services, cloud-native architectures, and cloud infrastructure, especially Amazon Web Services and related technologies (EBS, CDK, Lambda, S3, EC2, RDS, VPC, ELB)
- Working knowledge of networking concepts and experience with relevant technologies such as Load Balancers/DNS/SSL/Firewalls/NAT/NTP
- Experience working with various RDBMS such as Amazon RDS, MySQL and Postgres as well as NoSQL such as DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra
- Experience with Cloud design patterns and distributed computing concepts
- Experience with scripting (i.e. bash, Java Script, Node JS, Python, etc.)
- Experience working with systems configuration management, orchestration, and infrastructure as code with tools such as Ansible and/or Terraform
- Experience working with REST API based services
- Experience with Operating Systems (Windows and Linux variants) and networking security concepts
- Experience using container platform and orchestration systems ECS, AKS, Kubernetes/Docker, OpenShift
- Experience of source code management e.g. Git
- Excellent communicator with the ability to work effectively across multiple business, IT and engineering teams
- Ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities and make quick decisions with limited information
- Knowledge of Foundational Platforms associated with Product Lifecycle strongly preferred (e.g. Product Lifecycle Managers, Simulation Lifecycle Managers, Requirements Managers, Manufacturing Execution Systems, Enterprise Resource Planning, etc.)
- US Citizen

- Architecture certifications (e.g. Raytheon Certified Architect - RCAP, TOGAF)
- Experience with SKOS, RDF, OWL, SHACL, SPARQL and related W3C and IETF recommendations
- Experience with ontology tools such as TopBraid Composer, Protege, PoolParty, SBEVision, Mobi, JSON-LD Playground, GRUFF, WIDOCO, WebVOWL, EMMOntoPy
