Job Description

The DIGITAL TOOLS PRODUCT OWNER, provides the management of backlog of work to create, enhance, and maintain the assigned digital tool(s) in an agile process environment. Product owner collaborates with the software development team for the estimation, scheduling, and execution of backlog items. The product owner works with business unit stakeholders and tool users to evaluate new backlog items ensuring strategic tool alignment and business value which supports the prioritization.

The Digital Tools team focus is in two key areas. First, to provide customer facing tools used to configure, select, and design products and automation systems thru proposal generation. Second, to provide end-to-end automation to internal systems to support order generation, engineering hardware and software documentation, and manufacturing.

This Digital Tools department supports all Rockwell businesses by providing the management and leadership for the strategy, execution, and maintenance for a range of configuration and engineering configuration tools. Many of these tools provide product selection to complex product/system configuration for both external customers and internal users. Other tools provide CAD automation capabilities to drive engineering productivity and quality.

Objectives for this position include the following:

Tool strategy and Roadmap

  • Communicate with various stakeholders, including business and IT leadership, development teams, subject matter experts and customers, to gather feedback, address concerns, and ensure alignment
  • Build and maintain a product roadmap that outlines the planned features, enhancements, and improvements over time
  • Work with Digital Tools Leadership team to ensure features are aligned with strategy
  • Document epic scope including minimum viable product scope definition

Tool Documentation

  • Support epic, feature, and story creation in Jira and Jira Align
  • Ensure that new epic, stories, and features are documented in a manner to be ready for clear software development

Backlog Management

  • Conduct regular meetings with key stakeholders to create and maintain tool feature backlog
  • Prioritize backlog of features and stories for the next several PIs
  • Ensure that the most valuable features are developed first
  • Work with software development leadership to determine work efforts
  • Monitor and support the performance of the development teams say/do ratios

Tool Performance

  • Grow tool usage and resultant business growth and/or productivity
  • Provide regular reports on tool usage and resultant business growth and/or productivity

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Information Technology or equivalent work experience
  • Legal authorization to work in the US or Canada is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong technical background with expertise in problem solving techniques.
  • Strong technical communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
  • Experience in managing multiple and competing priorities.
  • Ability to meet challenging business expectations from multiple businesses.
  • Strong Collaboration skills.
  • Experience in Configure to Order (CTO) and Engineered to Order (ETO) businesses.
  • Experience & competency with MV and LV motor control products and power distribution and associated application to customer projects.
  • Technical background in intelligent drawing automation with multiple CAD environments.
  • Proficiency in SAP Systems.
  • Experience & competency working with IT Projects in an Agile environment.
  • Experience with working with Global Teams.
  • Experience and competency in electrical system design and construction.
  • Exposure to operational processes including scheduling, materials procurement, electrical panel assembly, wiring, and test.
