We are looking for a Director Database Operations to be part of our global team as we deploy cutting edge real time payment platforms, used by global financial and e-Commerce corporations around the world.

Ideal Candidate:

Our Cloud Technology & Operations team is looking for a Technology leader responsible for shaping, delivering, and supporting both our on-prem and cloud-based database solutions. The role will be accountable for day-to-day Database Operations, providing technical and budgetary direction, recommendations for solutions, vendors, cloud architecture and design activities.

You are comfortable leading and working as part of a geographically dispersed team, and cross functionally across a global Cloud Hosting organization. You have the ability to navigate when the path is not clear; and collaborate when faced with challenges; develop procedures and flows that are transparent, scalable, and that can be successfully implemented across many functions and locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership - inspire, mentor, advocate for, and develop your team to drive change and innovation in partnership with other business and operations leaders
  • Lead our database administration teams, supporting systems running Oracle, SQL, and NoSQL technologies deployed both in our physical and Cloud based environments ensuring adherence to business objectives and required security standards
  • Establish, monitor, and maintain the database governance processes necessary to achieve enterprise-wide command and control of our mission critical data systems. This includes maintaining desired service levels for data integrity, performance, and availability
  • Develop and maintain a proactive approach to production resilience by identifying and developing monitoring, alerting, orchestration and automation strategies to deliver business results against your portfolio. Do so while continuing to drive the execution of operational enhancements and continuous improvements projects in collaboration with Business Partners, Peers, and associated vendors
  • Oversees the development of short- and long-range objectives and tactical plans for the database environments
  • Understand our Business, our Strategy and how to support and drive them via Operational Excellence in the delivery of our Cloud Services
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to establish and maintain strategic direction and Operational Excellence for your designated Product Portfolio
  • Accountable for day-to-day Service Delivery of our critical Production Database Operations at the highest levels of quality
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; equivalent experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years of database focused leadership experience supporting, operating, and maintaining administration of high transaction volume relational database systems like Oracle, MSSQL and PostgreSQL in Hybrid Cloud environments
  • Focused experience on leading the control and governance of mission critical database in regulated (PCI, HIPPA etc) environments including data replication, DR/BCP across hybrid environments
  • Proven track record of coaching, mentoring and managing a team with strong workload management and process development skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate, connect with and engage stakeholders and team members at all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to formally present to Senior and Executive levels both internally, and Customer facing
  • Previous experience with the Financial or Payments Industry and related compliance activities
  • Proven skills in the areas of budgeting, vendor/partner management, staff structuring, and negotiations
  • Demonstrate high levels of flexibility, time management, personal drive, ability to communicate vision, solve problems and execute on goals
  • 15% travel which may be domestic or international. More travel may be required during initial on-boarding
  • Ability to support Weekend and off-hours activities as required

Highly Desired:

  • At least 5+ years leading mission critical applications and/or infrastructure specifically in Azure highly preferred
  • Technical background with proven analytical skills. The ability to effectively diagnose technical problems and apply a logical approach to problem solving
  • Experience architecting, building and maintaining CI/CD frameworks in a Financial Services setting to support Database Operations
  • Strong Project Management skills in a technical setting
