Director Accounting

As Director Accounting, you will direct and control the execution of accounting principles. You will oversee the development and implementation of accounting activities, including recording company transactions, classifications, and reconciliation of account balances in accordance with GAAP, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)/Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARS), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and company policy. You will review financial information, transactions, reports, balance sheet, profit and loss statements, consolidated financial statements, and other accounting schedules and reports to verify accuracy and compliance, and support the development and implementation of accounting system controls. You will also be responsible for the adherence to and communication of accounting and auditing policies, optimization of key financial metrics and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Must-Haves

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • A higher level degree may substitute for experience
  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education
• Thorough knowledge of financial accounting regulations, GAAP, and financial statement analysis, preparation, and reporting.
• Ability to identify, research, leverage resources and document conclusions for technical accounting resolution
• Accounting ERP system experience - SAP
• Proven leadership abilities inclusive of successful change management, mentoring, career development, training, succession planning, holding people accountable, and conducting yearly reviews
• Mastery of the ability to manage complex situations, delegate authority, lead and inspire your team, drive innovative thinking, instill collaboration, drive for success, challenge status quo and demonstrate ability to adapt to dynamic situations
• Proven experience and skills in team building, time management, conflict resolution, communication, briefing, presentation, strategic thinking, and literacy in the accounting disciplines
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly express concepts in verbal and written forms
• Ability to navigate change and uncertainty, make defensible decisions in ambiguity and own those decisions

Preferred

• Typically 10-12 years of relevant experience; 7+ years demonstrated accounting experience
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
• Master's degree in accounting or business administration
• SEC Reporting experience
• Demonstrated passion for ideation, intellectual curiosity, and innovation, as well as motivating others to act by creating a shared sense of vision or purpose
• Proven long-term and strategic perspective that extends beyond the immediate initiatives; visualizes and articulates a clear direction
• Deltek (Cost Point) accounting system experience
• Public accounting and other related experience
• Working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)/Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARS), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) compliance, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Team oriented with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense (Civilian), NASA/Civil or commercial space and/or US Military, with an understanding of defense, aerospace, intelligence, and adjacent markets

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $161,826.39 - $222,511.29
