Responsibilities  

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations the Director – Accounting Consulting is the individual responsible for leading and growing our PHA consulting practice. Key responsibilities include the following: 

• Manage an experienced team of PHA consultants performing the accounting, financial, & management consulting for a portfolio of clients. 

• Responsible for department administration including scheduling, mentoring, coaching and client billing. 

• Lead QA/QC and team sales/RFP responses.  

• Assist the software group with advanced accounting needs including fee accounting, product development recommendations, management consulting and HUD compliance information as appropriate. 

• Plan division goals and hold team accountable for: accurate, compliant and timely hands-on accounting and consulting services; performs annual HUD FDS reporting, completing checklists for each client’s work papers; and audit liaison services.  

• Proven understanding of industry trends leveraged to become a trusted advisor to the clients both internally and externally.  

• Demonstrated ability to manage a mid-size portfolio of clients with a pronounced focus on growth and development through sales and relationship-building.  

• Perform client analytics and provide trend information identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvement. 

• Become an expert software user of Elite Software Core Financial modules – GL, AP, AR and BB as well as other industry accounting solutions. 

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge and practical application of HUD, IRS and GAAP rules and regulations and changes thereto.  

• Maintenance of and adherence to monthly and annual accounting requirements of all client portfolios. 

Requirements 

• Expertise in PHA financial management and HUD reporting.

• 5+ years of accounting experience.

• Elite software experience is a plus.

• Executive level management experience required.

• Bachelor's degree required; CPA strongly preferred.

• Advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word. 

• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and handle stress in a fast-paced environment.

• 10-25% travel to client sites.
