Job Responsibilities: What you will do

Direct the day-to-day operations of designated accountants, including leading of the month-end accounting close process.

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of designated accountants; including but not limited to supervising and mentoring the department personnel, assisting the staff with goal setting and performance reviews. Direct the completion of the accounting procedures, documentation and cross training opportunities.
  • Lead the month-end closing process, including reviewing and approving month-end journal entries based on appropriate control thresholds to ensure accuracy and reasonableness in accordance with GAAP. Lead the designated personnel in identifying process improvements to ensure efficiencies within the monthly close process.
  • Assure compliance with internal controls, including but not limited to identifying, enhancing and implementing internal control improvements within the accounting process.
  • Assist the Controller in producing accurate and timely financial statements (including the review of the month-end income statements) and in the month-end closing and financial reporting process including account analysis and reconciliation.
  • May assist the Controller and Director of Financial Reporting with the review of external financial reports, including Form 10-K and Form 10-Q.
  • May act as the point person for troubleshooting accounting system issues.
  • Review balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of GAAP, IRC, FASB issues and current events to assist in identifying, researching and concluding on company specific or transactional related issues.
  • Assist in special projects as necessary.
  • Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives.

Qualifications: What you need to bring

  • 6+ years' of general accounting experience required.
  • Previous leadership experience required.
  • CPA or MBA is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting or related field required.
  • Must posses ability to identify and conclude accounting related processes using strong knowledge of GAAP and FASB topics.
  • Must hold previous proven leadership experience and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Must posses strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate good judgment and discretion.
