Financial Control Management
Provide oversight of enterprise-wide accounting policy implementation and administration, focused on the insurance and asset management industries. Serve as primary Accounting Policy contact, liaising across the industries and with peers through various trade association representation (ACLI, NCREIF, SIFMA among others), and by developing relationships with peer Accounting Policy leaders.
Provide thought leadership on emerging accounting and regulatory issues (U.S. STAT, U.S. GAAP, IFRS, SEC, FINRA, OCC, FRBB, PCAOB, among others). Serve as a catalyst for change and transformation. Assist in accounting training programs across TIAA leveraging in-house and external training sources.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
• Oversees Accounting Policy team to ensure quality, consistency, and efficiency of work performed, and manages, through subordinates, the coordination of the activities within the function with responsibility for results
• Provide technical accounting leadership, analysis, and support to Company finance personnel worldwide.
• Research and advise on proposed accounting rule changes being considered by Standard setters (NAIC, NY DFS, SEC, FASB)
• Active engagement in relevant trade association and industry groups to analyze and respond to proposed changes to accounting rules
• Lead assessments of accounting implications of proposed M&A and other complex transactions
• Manages accounting policy team members and provides regular feedback and performance evaluations on team members. Assess talent level required to perform responsibilities to achieve TIAA business strategy

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:
- 5 years of accounting experience required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7 years of accounting experience preferred
- Technical accounting experience: US GAAP, NAIC Statutory Accounting Principles
- CPA
- Experience providing leadership and managing teams
- In-depth knowledge of the insurance industry

Base Pay Range: $120,000/yr. - $200,000/yr.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
