Your role in helping us shape the future:
You will provide strategic leadership and vision for all aspects of advanced products development to include shaping the product related technology transition and integration strategies. You are a highly self-motivated leader who works collaboratively across the organization to build strong working relationships to solve difficult problems. You will lead, motivate and manage teams that will drive new technologies into practice across all vertical markers by bridging the gap between Innovations, Product Development, Strategy and Engineering. You will report to the corporate Vice President of Product Development.
You will work to align terminal & network technology strategies across and within Intelsat's Business Units. The successful candidate will promote cross-functional and cross-business unit engineering, innovations, product development, strategy, sales and marketing initiatives, identifying and acting upon development arbitrage opportunities. Lastly, you will partner with innovations and corporate development to evaluate and propose new tech companies for strategic acquisitions.
Are you up to the challenge?

• You will take a broad view across the entire Intelsat portfolio ensuring new products and services function with our technology infrastructure while improving customer experience / service provision.
• You will work during development to enact intentional architecture that ensures that new solutions meet requirements in a cost-effective and scalable fashion.
• Use technical and industry knowledge to identify optimal functional breakdown and minimize interface issues, you will leverage your knowledge and experience to reduce front end development risk and accelerate prototype and product time to market.
• You will partner with technology and component vendors to understand their systems in depth to allow for functional definition and interface derivation and integration use cases.
• You will act as a bridge internally, linking product development teams with vertical subject matter experts / specialty engineering within the company to ensure architecture is aligned and understood
• Provide opportunities for architecture and implementation cross training and knowledge transfers
• You and your team will rapidly integrate and demonstrate advanced products and services, including with customer thought leaders and their senior technical staffs.

Can you drive these processes?

• Proven ability to understand complex systems comprised of sensor and communication technologies in support of terrestrial, mobile satellite, cloud and space-based systems/platforms
• Demonstrated ability to lead a senior level technical team and rapid prototyping / product realization function.
• Effective collaborator and communicator at all levels of the organization and with customers
• Ability to aggregate, organize and present complex technical information, including to Sr Executives, Sr Customer Stakeholders and industry groups / standards bodies.
• Lead by example to facilitate collaboration among cross functional teams to move projects forward.
• Enable team to use research and testing to inform and validate design hypotheses and make decisions; leverage analytics to help drive constant improvement and capability enhancements.
• Stay current on the latest technologies and push the boundaries of what's creatively possible
• Embody lean-agile principles in your daily work and interactions. Foster an environment of transparency, respect for people and cultures and customer focus in everything you do.

You should definitely have:

• Masters/ Ph.D. in engineering, mathematics or related technical field
• Minimum 10 years in a technical leadership position
• Minimum 15 to 20 years total technical experience in space-based payloads, communication systems/payloads, terrestrial and aero communication systems/architectures, new technology introduction and sensor technology vendor management
• This role is subject to ITAR/EAR; candidates must be a US Person (this includes US Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Individual such as an asylee or refugee).

It would be nice if you had:

• Experience with incremental product definition and development using structured tools and frameworks such as: lean-agile, spiral development, user journey mapping, ideation, etc.
• Experience coaching and leading a team of individuals to achieve distributed decision making and collective ownership.
