What you will do

The BMS Director Operations Strategy and Project Management, leads all aspects of the running the operations strategy and leads the execution of strategic projects. As part of the Business Management Solutions leadership team, you will work with cross-functional senior business leaders to affect the overall success of driving the projects in alignment with the operations strategy. This role requires excellent knowledge of project/program management techniques. Excellent analytical skills with an ability to apply a balanced understanding of all business elements. Excellent interpersonal skills including negotiation and leadership skills. Efficient utilization of resources and skills through effective planning and leadership in the program matrix organization. Requires knowledge base of business plans, strategies, and technology skills. You will build and maintain a culture of excellence in where you and the project team members function at the highest level of collaboration and effectiveness.

How you will do it

  • Leads BMS global operations strategy and strategic project execution, including M&A and divestiture initiatives
  • Leads Advanced Manufacturing Engineering teams to propose and deploy Advanced manufacturing optimization and efficiency tools, processes and methods across the Manufacturing footprint
  • Develops, defines and drives operational footprint optimization initiatives, including product line manufacturing rationalization initiatives
  • Is responsible for capacity modeling to support short and long term capacity strategies
  • Lead the early stage business case development including finance and business analytics across all functions.
  • Implement BMS operations projects from design and development through deployment.
  • Audit all functional project plans to ensure adequate resources and planning that will meet project objectives, metrics and deliverables
  • Plans and schedules project deliverables, goals, and milestones
  • Define, sponsor and deploy process improvements to improve program/project execution and overall quality/customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinates monthly executive project reviews and works with all levels of management on planning, scheduling, organizing, directing and controlling of their respective projects.
  • Works closely with Product Management, Engineering and Operations organizations to develop operational project strategies and deployment.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective system of communication throughout the Fire Suppression organization and with the other strategy & project/program partners
  • Initially helps cross-functional teams identify project(s) objectives and assure progress toward meeting objectives throughout the process.
  • Facilitate meetings & agenda for strategy and project initiatives; ensure common understanding of deliverables and open issues for each initiative project phase.
  • Develop program standard process consistent with Johnson Controls' global standards
  • Present monthly reporting to Senior Leadership Team providing updates on progress and performance of projects
  • Build strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning.
  • Travel up to 50%

What we look for

  • Bachelor degree and 10+ years program management experience in a product manufacturing industry required
  • 5+ years supervisory experience leading large scale projects & strategy development
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise multiple projects of team/SME, developed internal/external relationship, established cross-team partnership. Experience leading large complex cross-functional programs.
  • Advanced program management skills in complex business environments, including ability to coordinate multiple teams in various locations and time zones.
  • Deep project management experience running large-scale implementations.
  • Must possess extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of Project Management methodologies and tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills. Strong negotiation and team-building skills with the ability to create consensus around decisions and mitigate conflicts among different teams.
  • Professional communication skills required at all levels. Must be able to interact and impact senior leadership. Excellent command of verbal and written communication (English). Effective presentation style for all levels of stakeholders.
  • Strong problem solving, decision making, issue analysis and resolution skills. Highly organized.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities with internal clients.
  • Passion for influencing teams and implementing change.

  • Experience deploying new technology or methodologies
  • Experience with electronic manufacturing
