As the Director of Program Management, you will lead a strategic Authorization Modernization Program (AMP) to modernize AXP's authorization business process and platforms from legacy mainframe to modern distributed cloud native design. You will work with cross functional program/project teams to ensure the desired results are achieved, actively participating in long range strategy planning and clearly articulating the value proposition of the program.

This is an exciting opportunity for a practically minded professional with excellent knowledge of program management principles and a track record of their successful application in the Financial Services Industry. The incumbent will be working closely with the wide array of Strategy, Product, Technology teams, as well as partner areas such as Servicing and Operational Risk.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Program Management Office for AMP, including planning and coordinating day-to-day activities.
  • Create program communication plans.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to identify and prioritize projects and capabilities.
  • Build and leverage relationships with key project stakeholders across multiple lines of business
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure program scope definition meets business objectives.
  • Identify, document, and understand workstream and program dependencies
  • Monitor AMP staffing and resource levels

Experience and Background:
  • 5+ years of experience in transformational or change management roles.
  • Experience in leading individuals and teams, both directly and indirectly in a matrixed environment.
  • Experience in delivering large and complex projects in matrixed organizations and interacting with teams across all lines of defense.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to see the big picture with attention given to critical details.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Familiarity with Credit Card regulations.
  • Excellent Microsoft Suite skills (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Advanced degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred
  • Certification: Project Management Professional (PMI) or equivalent Project Management certification is preferred
  • Credit or Fraud risk knowledge and/or experience is preferred

  • Leader who can build, inspire, develop, and coach a team.
  • Excellent relationship and influence management skills with the ability to build productive relationships across teams and levels of seniority.
  • Self-confident with a strong sense of integrity and the ability and willingness to challenge and be challenged.
  • Ability to communicate key risks to colleagues, business partners, and senior leaders.

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Salary Range: $150,000.00 to $225,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
