Director, Analytics & Reporting
Job Description
HYBRID - Position is onsite at our Boca Raton, FL offices 3 days/week.
The Director, Reporting & Analytics will manage the data landscape which enables functional business partners to obtain and analyze critical information specific to the operational execution of Supply Chain. This role will directly support the Supply Chain functions of Distribution & Transportation, Inventory Management, Order Management, and Supply Chain Strategy. Additionally, this role will closely collaborate with Merchandising, IT, Finance, and the route to market functions of Retail, Business to Business, and Business to Customer.
The Director, Reporting & Analytics will lead a team of business intelligence analysts who own the end to end for implementing data marts, ad-hoc self-serve reports, and dashboards to empower the broader group of business users. A primary key to success is the establishment of an efficient and effective analytics team that provides excellent customer service. The Director will employ excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills to translate ambiguous business questions into structured problems, and the right technical and management ability to deliver scalable analytical solutions through his team. This role will also include the hiring and development of the team.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Establish centralized Reporting & Analytics competence and determine "roadmap" to grow sustainable reporting and analytics practices
• Design and lead the overarching data strategy across the supply chain
• Manage the "pipeline" of operational reports, management reports and analysis cases
• Focus on bringing key reports online to support ongoing "demand"
• Produce regular management dashboard(s) for senior management
• Capture and prioritize "demand" of reporting requirements from operational teams
• Engage regularly and deeply with management team to ensure relevance and accuracy of insights
• Provide analytics and insights in support of planning, inventory management, capacity modeling, sourcing requirements and strategic decision making
• Develop and present sound proposals and recommendations supported by internal data, external benchmarks and stakeholder insights
• Define the analytics and research vision for supply chain that moves the team along the Gartner Analytics Ascendency Model
• Descriptive Analytics -> Diagnostic Analytics -> Predictive Analytics -> Prescriptive Analytics
• Take advantage of the synergies across teams to deliver fast and high impact solutions.
• Function as project lead on strategic initiatives as required
• Partner with business leaders and product managers to apply the team's analytics rigor to our most challenging strategic questions.
• Invest in the team's skills, tools, and processes to improve their velocity.
• Hire, retain, and develop a diverse staff based on the needs of the team- Data Engineers, Business Intelligence Engineers, Business Analysts, and Data Scientists.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience; Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years experience in related field
• Experience in merchandising, retail stores or distributor centers preferable.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL
• Experience with Machine Learning, scripting languages (eg. Python), and statistical/mathematical software (eg. R, SAS)
• Understanding of software development life cycle and/or agile development environment with emphasis on analytical practices.
• Knowledge of cloud-based data warehouses, architecture, infrastructure components, and reporting/analytical tools and environments.
• Experience using at least one data visualization (eg.Tableau)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills- ability to explain complex solutions in easy-to-understand terms.
• Ability to distill informal customer requirements into problem definitions, dealing with ambiguity and competing objectives
• Ability to plan roadmap, prioritize tasks, manage dependencies and deliver on time
• Microsoft suite of products (eg. Sharepoint, Teams, etc.)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills: story-lining, email communication and strong personal impact
• Strong thought leadership; can stand up for ideas and concepts while still maintaining collaborative spirit
• Strong leadership and management skills to guide team members and key stakeholders
• Passion for measurement and insight techniques
