Job Description

Team: Product

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director, API Platform Product Management in United States.

This is a high-impact platform leadership role focused on defining and scaling the API and integration ecosystem that powers external connectivity and data exchange in a fast-growing financial technology environment. You will be responsible for building the vision and strategy for how partners, institutions, and external systems integrate with a complex, data-driven marketplace. Acting at the intersection of product management, technical architecture, and business strategy, you will shape developer-facing APIs that enable scalable, secure, and high-performance integrations. The role requires close collaboration with engineering, compliance, and commercial teams to ensure both technical excellence and regulatory alignment. You will also play a key role in identifying new ecosystem opportunities that drive growth and expand platform adoption. This is a foundational leadership position with the opportunity to build and scale a modern API platform from the ground up.

Accountabilities:

  • Define and own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the external API platform and partner integration ecosystem.
  • Lead the full API product lifecycle including design standards, documentation, versioning, governance, and deprecation policies.
  • Partner with engineering teams to establish scalable API architecture, ensuring security, consistency, and strong developer experience.
  • Drive integration strategy with external financial infrastructure providers, translating complex domain requirements into clear API specifications.
  • Build and manage bidirectional integrations that enable both external access to internal data and ingestion of partner data into the platform.
  • Collaborate with compliance and legal teams to ensure all integrations meet regulatory requirements and data handling standards.
  • Work with business stakeholders to identify high-value partnership opportunities and support revenue-generating integrations.
  • Develop developer experience assets including documentation, sandbox environments, and integration onboarding processes.
  • Define and track API platform success metrics such as adoption, onboarding speed, reliability, and commercial impact.
  • Requirements:

    • 8–12 years of experience in product management or technical roles, including at least 3+ years focused on API platforms, developer tools, or integration products.
    • Proven experience designing and shipping APIs in API-first, platform, or ecosystem-driven organizations.
    • Strong technical fluency with ability to engage in architecture discussions and interpret API specifications confidently.
    • Experience delivering integrations that drive measurable business outcomes such as adoption, retention, or revenue growth.
    • Strong ability to communicate across engineering, business, compliance, and external partner stakeholders.
    • Experience working in regulated or complex environments such as financial services, fintech, or enterprise platforms is highly preferred.
    • Familiarity with private market structures or financial instruments is an asset.
    • Experience building platform products or API ecosystems in high-growth environments is strongly preferred.
    • Strong strategic thinking combined with strong execution and product delivery discipline.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive compensation aligned with experience and impact
      • Employee stock option plan providing ownership in a high-growth company
      • 100% employer-paid health and dental insurance coverage
      • Health and personal spending accounts
      • Flexible and collaborative entrepreneurial work environment
      • Opportunity to help build a platform product function from the ground up
      • Strong career growth potential into senior leadership roles
      • Inclusive and high-performance team culture focused on innovation
      • Sponsorship, relocation, and immigration support for eligible candidates
      • Additional lifestyle and in-office perks depending on location.
