Director - Arena Operations (GGA)
Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Director of Arena Operations provides leadership, direction, and management for all departments related to the operation of live events, event day services special event operations, and all operational services provided by The Grand Garden Arena. The Director of Arena Operations ensures all activities performed within the reporting departments are in accordance with the company's business objectives, budget guidelines, mission statement, and core service standards.
All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and MGM Resorts International policies, practices, and procedures.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the Executive Director/General Manager, Corporate Entertainment team, and property Senior Leadership in the development and implementation of the strategic plan and vision for The Grand Garden Arena consistent with MGM Resort International objectives.
- Assumes General Manager responsibilities in the absence of the Executive Director/General Manager Grand Garden Arena
- Provides leadership in the development and monitoring of division operations, fiscal budgets, and marketing strategies to produce both shortterm and long-term profitability for The Grand Garden Arena.
- Provide oversight of all operational services related to venue operation. This may include handling advancement of events with touring production personnel for concerts, televised events, sporting events, and any other public events in the arena.
- Provides leadership and direction to ensure all events are produced in an efficient and timely manner while ensuring procedures are in place to maintain security, safety and enjoyment of clients, guests, and employees on a daily and event basis.
- Directs Human Resources responsibilities for assigned department(s) to include creating a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect, and employee satisfaction; quality hiring, training and succession planning processes that encompass the company's diversity commitment; adherence to the company's status quo third party representation philosophy; compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and collective bargaining agreements.
- Prepares monthly/annual departmental budget/forecast; provides supporting documentation for senior management's review, when necessary. Monitors departmental expenditures, prepares justification for budget variations, and projects increases for new projects.
- Provides input into the execution and development, implementation, and measurement of guest service standards within assigned department(s), consistent with the company's core service standards and brand attributes.
- Ensures delivery of SHOW and all Guest Experience initiatives, aligning with the property's individual brand and One Company One Culture of MGM Resorts International.
- Responds to unusual events or circumstances requiring high-level management attention and informs the Executive Director for situations that require further attention.
- Provides new and different ways to continually improve and provide the premier entertainment experience
- Oversees the execution of event plans related to all performances in The Grand Garden Arena.
- Assists the Executive Director/General Manager with various corporate initiatives as directed.
- Provides leadership to all personnel in all entertainment venues (both in-house and outsourced)
- Collaborates with property management for all Grand Garden Arena events to ensure guest satisfaction for arrival and departure experience, safety, and awareness of property outlets.
- Liaison and provide direction to all outsourced vendor partners to include merchandise, concession, security, and guest service staffing.
- Perform other job-related duties as requested.

SUPERVISION:
- Event Managers, Supervisor of Ops, Guest Services
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and work experience.
- 2+ years of relevant experience
PREFERRED:
- 4 + years of experience in special events, production, entertainment, sales, catering, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in a similar event company setting
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Proof of eligibility to work in the US.
