Position Overview:
The Director, Brand Marketing is a results-oriented and creative marketing leader, responsible for developing marketing strategies and communication plans to drive consumer demand, brand relevance, and profitable business growth.
In collaboration with the VP of Marketing, this individual will lead a team to develop, optimize, and execute an annual national marketing calendar, inclusive of brand elements, campaigns, promotions, partnerships, and content. By partnering with cross-functional teams, this leader will ensure consistent messaging and creative across all channels of the consumer journey. This role holds a pivotal leadership position within the marketing organization, helping to oversee both creation and execution of marketing strategies to drive the brand forward and optimize based on real-time results.
Responsibilities:• Work with leadership to develop NRG's strategic marketing plan, campaigns, and content calendar to drive brand sentiment and year-over year business growth • Oversee the ideation and execution of the national marketing content calendar including the development of new promotional windows, partnering across functions to maximize in-market success • Oversee campaign development from briefing to finalizing creative content across owned and paid channels, holding team accountable to objectives, timelines, and in-market results • Collaborate with external and internal design teams to oversee the development of all marketing materials to align with overall brand voice, objectives, and strategy to drive consumer engagement and increase sales • Partner internally across brand, creative, content, and digital experience to inform and ensure an integrated communications plan that delivers the brand strategic intent across consumer channels • Ensure development of plans and strong execution across partnerships, national and regional marketing • Review and analyze brand, consumer data and LOB performance to provide recommendations on adjusting marketing strategies and tactics to drive sentiment, frequency, and sales• Orchestrate the integration of future acquired brands and manage evolving brand architecture• Define and develop KPIs for brand measurement and continued reporting• Provide stewardship of brand guidelines within marketing departments as well as advising other LOBs on brand - adherence to brand governance model• Build and maintain effective working relationships and communication with LOBs, data/insights, operations, finance, procurement, legal, regulatory, and agency teams to translate the marketing calendar into action • Partner with the VP of Marketing on smart budget decisions, overseeing the team's budget tracking throughout the year and recommending ways to optimize people development • Develop a best-in-class brand marketing team by attracting and retaining top talent with purposeful coaching, training, and mentorship • Set and communicate clear objectives and priorities to the team, assigning projects and tasks to direct reports and balancing team's workload to maximize effectiveness • Collaborate with peers across functions to optimize ways of working and maximize business results
Minimum Requirements:• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business, or related area • Ten (10) years of experience in marketing, brand management, or advertising • Five (5) or more years of experience managing a national brand with demonstrated experience developing brand plans and creative briefs, either independently or through an advertising or PR agency • Five (5) years of supervisory/management experience• Advanced understanding of managing the marketing campaign process, inclusive of leading the review process and providing creative feedback • Ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders - agency, internal creative, media strategy, finance, legal, operations, and innovation - to reach strategic goals • Experience in leading multi-media campaign development, from initial research phase and plan development through roll-out
Preferred Requirements:• Experience navigating a national corporate environment.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:• Strong overall business acumen with a proven ability to proactively connect strategic objectives with action• Ability to interface comfortably and effectively at all levels of the organization • Supervisory experience and ability to influence effectively (up, down, and across the organization) • Success in driving business results through executional excellence• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, shift priorities and work under tight timelines • Very adaptable with the ability to exercise patience and understanding throughout the campaign development process
