Job Description:

Education:
  • Bachelor degree in relevant field of study or equivalent years of related work experience required


Work Experiences:
  • 10+ years of retail brand strategy and activation experience at relevant agency, direct-to-consumer brands, or corporate retail environment
  • Proven and visible work experience in brand campaign development and customer driven activation
  • Progressive management experience leading teams and cross-functional projects


Skills:
  • Exceptional listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence across a broad range of constituents including senior executive leadership
  • Strong technical and analytic skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to present data and conclusions in an organized, concise manner at all levels of the company
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic and tactical issues.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to support multiple projects simultaneously and meet critical deadlines within a high volume, fast-paced environment
  • Cooperative team player and a leader at all levels of the organization
  • Work effectively across functions with minimal direction (self-discipline, self-starter)
  • Knowledge of publishing and presentation tools (e.g., Word and PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and operate with a sense of urgency
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of all aspects of Marketing Communications, including digital and traditional media, social, public relations and grassroots activation
  • Proven track record to grow, develop and retain top talent
  • Strong ability to analyze, articulate, and solve complex problems/concepts to make effective business decisions
  • Able to maintain the customer perspective as a driving force behind business decisions and activities


Responsibilities:
  • Leads a team of brand, multicultural, and private brand professionals to translate customer insights and analytics into brand strategy briefs and tactical plans to win key selling seasons
  • Leads strategy development and execution of annual plans for key customer cohorts
  • Champions access to a fun active lifestyle for all people, cultures and backgrounds
  • Builds connectivity for Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging efforts across enterprise and customer facing initiatives
  • Leads go-to-market planning for private brand portfolio in partnership with product development and merchandising executive leaders
  • Identifies, cultivates and maintains a diverse roster of influencers and partners to represent Academy private label brands in partnership with Public Relations, Marketing and Social Media leaders
  • Partners closely with creative leadership team for strong translation of Academy brand strategy briefs into outbound execution across customer touchpoints
  • Actively participates in creative planning and content productions to provide brand and customer authenticity expertise
  • Evangelize Academy brand standards and voice across customer facing marketing and enterprise communications
  • Generate data-driven decisions to move the team and marketing execution forward to meet and/or exceed company goals
  • Lead Academy's external agencies and vendors to develop and implement integrated marketing programs that drive value for the company and customers
  • Contribute to the ideas, development, creation, and implementation of all customer facing marketing programs for the business and the company at large
  • Analyze and evaluate the ROI and effectiveness of Academy brand campaigns including creative assets, customer feedback and channel level KPIs
  • Constantly analyzes customer and industry trends to stay ahead of evolving landscape of sports and outdoors experiences, norms, competition intelligence, and customer expectations
  • Oversees daily operation of the department and its operating budgets and advertising expenses
  • Required to learn company policies, procedures and safety rules
  • Duties may change and associates may be required to perform other duties as assigned


Physical Requirements & Attendance:
  • Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties
  • Adhere to company work hours, policies, procedures and rules governing professional staff behavior
  • Regular attendance required
  • Up to 10% of travel required, overnight stays as needed
  • Ability to work flexible hours such as evening, weekends, and holidays as necessary
