Job Description

The Director, Business Development is responsible for total Business Development performance and productivity in the assigned group. Staffs and directs a sales team and provides management, productivity and leadership towards the achievement of maximum productivity and growth in line with company vision and values.

Responsibilities

  • Develops a sales strategy for the market that ensures attainment of company sales goals and profitability
  • Responsible for the performance and development of the Reps
  • Provides the Reps the coaching, counseling, advice, support, motivation or information they need in order to help them meet their sales objectives
  • Prepares action plans for effective search of sales leads and prospects
  • Initiates and coordinates development of action plans to penetrate new markets and attract target uses
  • Provides timely feedback to senior management regarding performance and forecasted results
  • Approves (or rejects) all submitted deals based on a broad understanding of the company's goals and objectives
  • Coaches and assists Reps in sales techniques and per-deal revenue maximization
  • Works closely with all necessary departments to ensure an environment of collaboration and maximum productivity
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team
  • Recruits and hires Reps based on criteria agreed upon by senior management
  • Maintains a self-development program to continue your professional growth (focus upon improving your sales skills, managerial skills, business skills and product knowledge)
  • Executes standardized departmental initiatives
  • Ensures that all Reps meet or exceed all activity standards for prospecting calls, appointments, proposals and closes
  • Sets an example for Reps in areas of personal character, commitment, organizational and selling skills and work habits
  • Maintains contact with key sales contacts in the market area to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for increased coverage
  • Demonstrates ability to interact, cooperate and seek solutions with other company department

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3 years of experience within the shopping center or retail industry; 5 years' experience preferred
  • Deal making/leasing experience
  • Ability to manage, lead and direct others
  • Excellent oral and written communication, public speaking and presentation skills
  • Ability to develop/incubate entrepreneurial tenants
  • Excellent computer skills
