What You’ll DoÂWe are seeking a seasoned business development executive with a proven track record of leading and closing $50M+ opportunities within NASA. In this role you will lead the identification, qualification and pursuit of new business opportunities within NASA. You must demonstrate a deep understanding of NASA and other relevant FedCiv agencies including organizational structure, mission priorities and procurement and acquisition methodologies and tendencies, and competitive landscape both from a Prime and subcontractor perspective. You will leverage this knowledge to develop customer and partner qualified leads, engagement plans, and provide thought leadership in the marketplace leading to the development and execution of Slingshot’s NASA go-to-market plans.
As the Director of NASA Business Development and Sales, you will report to the Vice President of Government Business Development and Sales.Â
Responsibilities- Identify, generate, and qualify new business opportunities to build and sustain a robust and qualified FedCiv opportunity pipeline
- Develop, grow, and foster trusted customer and partner relationships
- Create strategies to influence and shape customer requirements and acquisition strategies
- In partnership with key internal stakeholder teams (e.g., program, product, engineering, science, marketing, etc.) develop responses for requests for information (RFIs), market surveys, white papers, presentations, customer briefings, and customer demonstrations
- Be a contributing force in the development and commitment to the work ethic, culture, and values of Slingshot and the performance driven culture of the business development and sales teams.

- Bachelor's Degree in a technical or business related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work/military experience.
- Strong customer and industry contacts within relevant mission areas of NASA.
- 7+ years of related marketing and business development experience.
- Previous experience working within NASA with deep knowledge of respective acquisition organizations and their federal budget processes
- Proven track record of identifying and closing on new business opportunities with NASAÂ
- Working knowledge of US Government contracting, contract types and procurement processes
- Demonstrable knowledge of the space industry with direct client management experience of NASA.Â
- Proven organization, budget, acquisition, and operational experience in NASA
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate NASA / NOAA mission needs and requirements into business opportunities
- Proven leadership and management skills and demonstrated ability to build relationships within the NASA space community, work as part of a highly dynamic team and lead through influence at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the ongoing changes in the NASA SSA/SDA/STM mission and organizational environment and familiarity with the roles and organization of NASA space mission requirements.
- Working knowledge of the Shipley capture and proposal process or similar business development/capture methodology.Â
