Job Summary
In this role you will focus on leading, coordinating, and supporting strategic initiatives, including developing and maintaining strategy, leading business management activities and improving maturity for one or more technology functions. Responsibilities include but are not limited to expense management, planning/annual appropriations, third-party vendor spend management, resource planning & reporting, workforce strategy, space planning, service catalog strategy and execution, and responses to senior management or board or regulatory presentations.
Major Responsibilities
- Provide strategic guidance and promote partnership across senior Operations & Technology Americas (OTA) leadership in a consultative and advisory capacity
- Work with the Business Unit leaders to develop of strategic roadmaps
- Forge relationships with MUFG affiliates in the US and globally
- Develop refined communications and produce briefings, reports, and memos
- Act as a strategic partner to support the operations and mission of OTA Business Units
- Develop strategies to drive effectiveness and efficiency in technology or cybersecurity and related functions
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on technology, information security trends, regulatory environment, and long-term implications for MUFG
- Provides leadership on overall Operations & Technology business strategy
- Identify opportunities and execute overall process improvement
- Consults on Operations & Technology business unit strategy
- Partners with the Operations & Technology business unit heads to support:
- Human Resources, to ensure resource strategy aligns with capabilities, workforce strategy, and location strategy
- Internal customers (employees and business units), to streamline business processes and break down barriers to align to business priorities, leverage automation, gain efficiencies, and enable an entrepreneurial business
- Site optimization, to align business unit space requirements with firm/Operations & Technology strategy
- Provides strategic guidance and advisory services to business unit heads
- Partners with Project Management Office to align business unit strategy with annual appropriations and midterm business plan submissions
- Oversee Operations & Technology business unit financial plan and cost controls. Develop strategy to for the business unit to increase the company's bottom line
- Works with financial management to create a cohesive product and service strategy along with pricing trajectory (IT product catalog)
- Serves as the primary point-of-contact for third-party vendor strategy for the business unit(s) supported
- Partners with sourcing to build and maintain comprehensive and accessible books of record for all technology suppliers and supplier delivery commitments (internal / external)
- Provides clear insight into vendor spend, maintenance renewals, and other outside costs for the Vendor Operations team to execute
- Engages in key stakeholder communications, stakeholder governance routines, leadership meetings, and management routines
- Manages the collection of Operations & Technology business unit information for governance and management routines and ensures that deliverables are met on time
- Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred
- Major in information technology, risk management, business, or related field
- 10+ years' experience in supporting C-level technology and operations executives in a business management, strategic advisory and consulting role, leveraging strong partnership across all levels
- Preferred experience: previous strategy and business management work at a financial services firm or within a technology or operations division of the firm
- Excellent skills in analysis, problem solving and a solid understanding of business and risk domains within Financial Services industry
- Ability to analyze trends, identifying, and project signs of changing risk levels
- Must have a deep understanding of business management, strategy, developing strategic roadmaps and leading large scale programs within a global firm
- Demonstrated track record of delivering positive results in project work, including high quality implementations and cost savings within time and budget constraints
- Ability to lead and facilitate executive level meetings and plan sessions to provide insight into strategic initiatives and current/target states
- Ability to identify time and/or cost inefficiencies and identify/develop improvements
- Must be fully conversant with industry standards in technology, regulatory expectations, issues and current trends relevant to Financial Services industry
- Ability to develop and oversee strategic goals and techniques for a project or initiative and effectively communicate this to all team members
- Leadership experience with a focus on the design and execution of information security or technology strategy, investment plans, and roadmaps supporting the firm's business, financial, technology, and regulatory requirements and as well as to enable effective communication with the executive leadership
- Experience working closely with industry experts, internal stakeholders (e.g., Second and Third Lines of Defense) and regulators to drive alignment of business and security needs
- Measuring program effectiveness and maturity, along with proven ability communicating progress and challenges to executive leadership
- Demonstrated experience in building and managing project teams to address complex issues in high pressure situations
- Demonstrated leadership experience in professional setting
- Strong people management skills, excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and an ability to interact with all levels of management
- Developing actionable business strategies and plans that align with short- and long-term business objectives
- Demonstrated leadership experience in professional setting
