Director Category Management

Position Summary

Develop annual and long-term strategic sourcing strategies. Direct strategic sourcing work to optimize benefits to the enterprise while ensuring alignment with Business Unit priorities. Collaborate, communicate, and engage with senior Business Unit leadership to understand near and long-term priorities as well as financial and operational needs to create a business unit-centric culture within the team. Lead and motivate the team to achieve category goals. Improve strategic sourcing metrics tracking and monitoring to improve accountability within the Category Management team, Supply Chain, and the business units.

Essential Responsibilities

• Direct the development and implementation of strategic sourcing plans by spend category and provide ongoing category management in partnership with senior Operating Company and Business Unit leadership. Category planning will include analyzing industry trends, market data, competitive advantage improvement areas, and business unit insights to develop long-term category strategies.
• Influence and enable process improvement that reduces overall costs of asset ownership, improves operational performance, manages risk, and supports Xcel Energy's environmental, social, and governance leadership, including those related to supplier diversity.
• Direct the development, implementation, and management of sourcing projects/events in partnership with Business Unit leadership. Oversee request for proposals, bid specifications/ scope of work, administration of the appropriate Xcel Energy standard commercial terms & conditions, and negotiations of any specialized terms & conditions required by individual transactions. Identify baseline and track sourcing savings and associated total cost of ownership savings for the corporation.
• Ensure productive collaboration occurs among Category Management, Supply Chain Procurement teams, Capital Projects Procurement, Nuclear Procurement, and the Procurement Service Center to meet business units' financial and operational needs while maximizing value for the enterprise.
• Ensure compliance with Xcel Energy's sourcing and contracting policies. Direct the development and management of the contract creation, retention, and monitoring processes in collaboration with Legal, Corporate Compliance, and Corporate Safety.
• Foster strong relationships with strategic suppliers and work with suppliers to ensure timely equipment, material, and service availability and maintain quality standards. Conduct timely escalations to ensure performance gaps are addressed timely.
• Attract, recruit, and retain a highly motivated and engaged team. Drive alignment and accountability within the team to ensure the successful execution of business area priorities. Establish and communicate clear team performance objectives and expectations, provide consistent and clear feedback to employees, and prioritize engaging in individual development and succession planning.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Economics, Finance, Business, Engineering, or related field.
• MBA or equivalent desired.
• Ten or more years of management experience within Supply Chain, including experience in Strategic Sourcing and Category Management.
• Knowledge and understanding of all elements of the Supply Chain, including sourcing, purchasing, planning & forecasting, inventory management, logistics, warehousing, and supplier relationship management.
• Effective communication with internal teams and external vendors.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse and rapidly changing business environment to integrate multiple groups and suppliers.
• Utility and Coupa experience are a plus. Must be willing to travel up to 25%.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $139,400.00 to $197,467.00 per year
