As the Director, Category Management (Indirect), you will have responsibility for the strategic and tactical leadership of the Indirect category team. The leader has the critical responsibility of developing and aligning category strategies with business partner needs and identifying and managing a supply base to drive growth and profitability across the company. The total spend is approximately $700M across multiple categories: Corporate Services and Field Services.

What you'll do on a typical day:
- Lead the Indirect category and commercial strategy; ensure category strategy incorporates long-range plans
- Develop annual savings commitments by category with functional stakeholders
- Develop & implement multi-year category strategies with goals to increase spend with preferred suppliers.
- Identify and Manage risk mitigation strategies in support of category strategies
- Lead the development and negotiation of contracts through the contract lifecycle in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements while maximizing value and minimizing risk to XPO
- Lead the development of RFPs and analysis for supplier selection; lead supplier negotiations for the enterprise on requirements, commercial terms and conditions
- Build performance-based metrics, KPIs and supplier relationships that lead to optimal TCO, quality improvements, process improvements and delivery of world-class solutions
- Partner with leadership and communicate with other internal stakeholders on category strategies, supplier value propositions and supplier performance metrics
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to identify and resolve issues and/or weaknesses in primary and secondary suppliers
- Conduct strategic supplier performance reviews using supplier scorecards to develop continuous improvement initiatives and actions
- Develop reporting metrics and align them with functional areas to ensure cost savings and cost mitigation related to sourcing and supplier management activities
- Oversee the management of staff, developing and cascading annual goals (as appropriate), including reviewing, approving and allocating work assignments and mentoring team members on developing performance metrics, accountability measures and career plans
What you need to succeed at XPO:
At a minimum, you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
- 7 years of sourcing experience in the development and management of a supply base is required. Sourcing or category management experience within Indirect preferred.
- Demonstrated success including supplier development, responsibility for high-level multimillion dollar contracts and negotiations, leading/participating on multi-functional projects
- Strong project management experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), including creating complex formulas in Excel
- Proven ability to lead a team and develop people
It'd be great if you also have:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in business, supply chain or related experience
- CPSM and/or Lean Six Sigma experience
- Proven track record of cross-functional collaboration with the ability to influence and impact results at multiple levels of the organization
- Experience identifying opportunities to increase accuracy and optimize resources while developing, recommending and implementing solutions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience presenting clean, organized and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience
- Experience developing insightful, value-added and actionable analyses with detailed explanations regarding drivers of those results; capability to produce unambiguous, comprehensive and accurate interpretations
- Strong aptitude for understanding and analyzing large amounts of data from multiple sources; experience performing complex analyses of data, processes, policies, procedures and/or systems
- Expertise to utilize a variety of interpersonal styles and communication methods to effectively adapt to new work structures, processes or cultures
- Ability to develop strategic plans and the necessary execution
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and management skills with a proactive nature and hands-on approach
