POSITION TITLE

Director, Cloud Enterprise Architect (P5)

YOUR ROLE

Genworth is embarking on an ambitious cloud transformation journey and are looking to hire an enterprise architect to play an important role in setting up the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) and the overall success of the transformation.

This role is responsible for setting the long-term cloud adoption strategy and roadmap that aligns with business strategy, objectives, and provides domain expertise on running enterprise applications in the Genworth Public Cloud (AWS, Azure, and GCP). The Cloud Enterprise Architect is further responsible for ensuring architectural and operational consistency across the Genworth Public Cloud estate. The enterprise architect is responsible for facilitation, analysis, design, and migration of the on-premises solutions to the cloud. Key responsibilities include defining, designing, and delivering cloud architecture patterns for application teams to replicate and to migrate to the cloud. The responsibilities include the policies to govern and monitor cloud usage, architecture standards, security standards, and cloud readiness criteria for evaluating new and existing workloads. In addition, the role will provide technology direction and guidance for strategic projects/initiatives aligned with enterprise architecture principles and considerations. Responsible for evaluating, selecting, and recommending relevant technology, tools and practices aligned with business strategy and priorities. Applications are expected to be developed as cloud native applications on Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services. Prior experience with Financial Services and Insurance platforms is highly desirable.

This role will be accountable for analyzing business strategy and current state architecture, developing the roadmap for transitioning from the current state architecture to the target state architecture. This role will also ensure that architecture strategy aligns with Genworth's overall technology strategy.

The candidate for this role should be a big picture thinker and a highly skilled engineering leader, who is a problem-solver and has a deep passion for creating and building integrated solutions that combine technology with automation and governance to deliver value.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING• Lead the organization through cloud adoption and establish best practices. The architect will be responsible for creating a cloud adoption strategy for a complex portfolio of 250+ on-prem applications and several hundred databases• Manages the core center excellence team of Networking, IAM, and Security Architects• Collaborate with the application, data, network, and identity architects on defining, designing, and delivering cloud specific technical architectures, patterns, and operability of cloud architecture solutions for cloud native applications and cloud migrated applications• Assist application solution architects to design scalable, highly available, secure application solutions that leverage cloud services• Works on highly complex enterprise-wide projects that require in-depth knowledge across multiple specialized architecture domains• Works with application architects and technical team members to educate and mentor them on end-to-cloud end solution delivery• Work closely with IT security to setup Genworth's cloud security policies and establish robust monitoring.• Lead Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) activities for assessing and introducing all new cloud services in Azure/AWS/GCP/other cloud providers• Identify emerging technologies and trends that may affect the enterprise. Maintain awareness of vendor/product industry developments, regulations and trends and identify potential impacts to the enterprise• Assist in vendor/product selection activities including the development of vendor/product evaluation models used in Requests for Proposal (RFP's)• Provide technical/business consulting to internal IT organizations and client-sponsored activities outside of IT• Provide leadership and direction for defining enterprise or application specific cloud strategy aligned with business domain priorities• Analyze the business drivers that determine key architecture requirements for various cloud service delivery models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS etc.) Develop the process for creating a technical strategy that supports the business strategy and facilitate its development, and maintenance• Prepare ROI analysis and assist with creating budget proposals to manage the entire lifecycle of cloud services• Participate in optimizing solution architectures to manage costs and identify cost control mechanisms.• Perform technical architecture planning activities for cloud initiatives. Facilitate and develop architectural standards for cloud related technologies• Facilitate the development and evolution of the architecture and global governance processes• Develop, collect, and analyze Enterprise Architecture metrics to identify continual improvement opportunities• Coordinate with Product Owners and Business Relationship Managers to incorporate the voice of the customer• Maintain targeted technical vendor relationships• Curation of cloud reference architecture

WHAT YOU BRING• Bachelor's degree and minimum 10+ years' experience or significant equivalent work experience• Minimum 5 years of software development/coding experience• Demonstrated technical expertise around infrastructure, system and application design using data, web, mobile, cloud, and open-source technologies• In-depth experience with Amazon Web Services and/or Azure solutions, architectures, related technologies, and their interdependencies• Experience across various enterprise solutions/ technology stacks (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS) and ability to provide guidance to diverse stakeholders and external vendors.• Specializes in at least one technology domain (e.g., application architecture, data management, integration, security, network, infrastructure) and awareness of other domains• Deep understanding of cloud security aspects and tools and their integration with application.• Understands the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations• Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to partner with engineers and summarize communication for executives• Willingness to research and self-study to keep technical skills relevant in a highly complex environment
