Job Summary:

SpringWorks is looking for an experienced attorney to join its in-house legal function and serve in the commercial legal function under the direction of the lead commercial attorney, supporting market access initiatives, government pricing / contracting compliance, commercial contracting needs, as well as advertising / promotional material review. The incumbent will act as a strategic business partner to the Marketing and Market Access functions, collaborate with other key functions (e.g., functions supporting commercialization, Legal / Compliance colleagues, and outside law firms to further the Legal Department’s efforts to promote an environment and culture of integrity, business partnership, problem solving and risk mitigation. Importantly, must possess experience counseling market access colleagues concerning product distribution, trade and reimbursement arrangements and with respect to U.S. federal and state government contracting and pricing compliance programs. This individual must be able to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and work as an integral member of the team.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a experienced attorney to join our growing legal team and who will report to the Senior Director, Commercial Counsel. This individual will:

  • Provide legal counsel across a variety of internal business functions; partner with the Company’s lead commercial attorney to ensure comprehensive legal coverage for market access-related commercial matters, particularly with respect to trade, distribution and reimbursement-related contracts, and government pricing/contracting compliance.
  • Draft, review, negotiate a wide variety of contracts that support ongoing commercialization and other business operations, especially in support of market access initiatives, including various customer and supply chain contracts, as well as patient services vendors.
  • Provide support to the Company’s lead commercial attorney as an adjunctive or subject matter legal substitute on the cross-functional Medical, Legal and Regulatory review committee
  • Develop and maintain expertise in applicable laws and regulations regarding commercialization of pharmaceutical products.
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of healthcare compliance & ethics programs, including counseling and assisting with training on compliance policies and healthcare compliance regulations

Education and Experience:

Education:

JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials.

Experience:

7+ years in the biopharmaceutical/life sciences department of a leading law firm and/or an in-house legal department of a commercial-stage pharmaceutical corporation.

License/Certificate:

Active member of a state bar and in good standing.


Skills:

Technical: Knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations applicable to discounts and pricing, federal and state anti-kickback statutes, state drug price transparency laws, as well as the Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act and FDA regulations and guidance. Experience advising on GPO, PBM, patient support programs, field reimbursement and pharmacy benefit coverage. Skilled in drafting and negotiating a variety of agreements; ability to draft concise and effective contractual documents; familiarity with intellectual property issues and drafting contractual intellectual property provisions within agreements.  Experience providing legal review of promotional materials preferred.

Leadership:  Must possess a strong sense of ownership and responsibility, as well as a proven work ethic delivering excellent work product and exemplary customer service.  Exhibits excellent judgement, is a self-starter, has high integrity and is solution oriented.  Able to work independently and under time constraints in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Communication: Strong communication and outstanding interpersonal skills are essential, with ability and comfort working with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
