Director, Content Creator & Strategist
Job Description
The Content Strategy role drafts market, investment and retirement content for a variety of audiences to inform of the organization's investment activities. Working under minimal supervision, this job is responsible for producing and editing investment-specific written documentation that will be distributed across various communication channels.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Develops written and multimedia investment content (including white papers and product support pieces) that is clear and engaging for all target audiences.
- Collaborates with professionals in different functions, including client service, finance, strategy and investment teams to ensure correctness of content and establish key objectives and themes.
- Proofreads investment articles and submits final drafts and layouts to production department for review.
- Possesses thorough knowledge of the organization's investment activities as well as broader industry trends to draft well-informed communications.
- Recognizes and upholds the firm's brand in all written investment communications.
- Builds strong relationships with investment and communications counterparts as well as key internal stakeholders to ensure successful strategy alignment and distribution of content.
- Provides recommendations to management on messaging and communications formats to maintain clarity and accuracy of message.

Additional Responsibilities:
- Creates and deliver content and marketing communication plans for a range of thought leadership initiatives with limited supervision including: short/long-form articles, newsletters, internal/external web properties, social media constructs, multimedia content and more
- Creates and delivers dynamic promotional content in a variety of formats (e.g. short form articles, emails, social media, video scripts, etc.) that seeks to amplify client go-to-market plans and drive consideration through a myriad of marketing and communications channels.
- Develops integrated content marketing plans that effectively promote our views to the right target audience segment(s) based on how they prefer to consume our content.
- Ensures that all thought leadership projects are delivered on time, on message and consistently across all marketing and communication platforms.
- Acts as a primary point of contact for the client marketing organization serving as one of our go-to audience segment leads for Communications.
- Accountable for measuring and reporting out on the results of all content initiatives (in collaboration with other M&C stakeholders as appropriate) with strategic recommendations for how we can optimize going forward.
- Constantly reviews insight content on our external web properties ensuring that content is fresh, always updated and error free.
- Regularly reviews and monitors key competitors and prepare assessment reports for leadership teams to help inform strategy.
- Contributes to building a center of excellence for content management and promotion whereby you are constantly looking for ways to increase efficiencies.
- Creates content partnerships across marketing as well as senior investment and business stakeholders across the firm.
Required Qualifications
- Five plus years of experience as a marketing writer (experience in financial services is a strong plus)
- Five plus years with the ability to understand nuanced and complex topics, draw out a simple message and call to action, and reframe for different audiences segments and marketing communication touch-points
- Five plus years of excellent communication skills; must be able to present well at meetings and write conversationally and with authority
- Five plus years of superior project management, interpersonal and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to pivot quickly if news events call for faster communication with our clients
- Self-directed, self-starter, and motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Capable of juggling multiple tasks, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
- The ability to quickly master TIAA's systems and technology for content creation, review and approval

Base Pay Range: $90,400/yr. - $150,600/yr.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
