JOB SUMMARY
Cresco Labs is seeking a Director, Corporate Tax. The Director, Corporate Tax will report to the Senior Director, Corporate Tax and has responsibility for income tax related matters. This position’s main focus will include review of tax provision calculations and disclosures for quarterly and annual public filing requirements. In addition, this position is responsible for reviewing federal and state income tax returns, preparing tax forecasts, participating in the tax integration of new businesses and acquisitions, as well as assisting with special projects as needed. The position interacts with external and internal financial statement auditors, external investors, and C-Suite level personnel. Our ideal candidate must be a self-starter who is highly organized with great attention to detail.
CORE JOB DUTIESÂ
- Review the quarterly and annual tax provision under both IFRS and GAAP principles
- Manage the current and deferred income tax reporting process, including tax account balance reconciliations, tax basis balance sheet adjustments, valuation allowance analyses, and deferred tax asset/liability rollforwards
- Review global uncertain tax positions, while working in conjunction with advisors on legal and regulatory changes
- Review quarterly tax accounting journal entries
- Work closely with corporate accounting team to ensure proper tax reporting under both IFRS and GAAP principles
- Interface directly with external audit firm
- Review and prepare schedules used in monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for both internal and external reporting purposes
- Mentor and manage fellow tax department members
- Tax compliance review, research, and planning
- Review annual US federal, state and local, and foreign income tax return filings. This includes federal Forms 1120, 1065, 5471, 5472, and related state income tax forms
- Review workpapers, schedules, calculations and other items related to federal tax return filings, estimated tax payments, extension payments, and tax sharing agreements
- Manage the tax audit and notice processes with the IRS and relevant state and local taxing jurisdictions
- Work closely with Treasury and Financial Planning & Analysis groups on tax forecasting
- Prepare memorandums and research various complex tax issues to determine the appropriate tax treatment and related tax reporting
- Prepare external facing reports for investors and partners Â
- Assist with and research indirect tax filing requirements as needed
- Processes and controls
- Assist in the implementation of tax technology initiatives, including tax provision and compliance preparation software. OneSource experience preferred
- Build and maintain tax internal controls
- Assist with tax integration of new businesses and acquisitions
- Help drive the continuous improvement of processes and procedures as the company expands in both new and established markets
- Assist with special projects, including legal entity restructuring and rationalization
- Work cross functionally with company departments and external partners
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLSÂ Â
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or business degree with accounting concentration
- Advanced Degree preferred: MST, MAcc or LLM
- CPA required Â
- 10+ years accounting experience (public accounting or relevant corporate tax experience required) including at least:
- 5+ years of federal and state corporate and partnership income tax compliance experience; and
- 10+ years of tax provision experience (ASC 740/IAS 12)
- Experience in complex global manufacturing organization preferred
- Ability to research highly complex tax issues, work within a team environment to resolve such issues, and communicate results in a clear/timely manner
- Strong interpersonal skills and consistent follow through on assigned tasks
- Experience with financial accounting systems (Intacct and SAP helpful)
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office required Â
- Enjoys working in a start-up, fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently in a highly organized manner
