Summary
As the Data & AI company, Databricks is uniquely positioned to provide THE Data & AI training and certification to enable learners to develop the right skills to solve their big data problems. As Director of Curriculum Development at Databricks you will be responsible for defining our curriculum and certification strategy and leading the development of associated training materials. Reporting to the Senior Director, User Success & Curriculum Development, you’ll grow and lead a team of technical developers.
As the Databricks customer and partner bases grow, it’s imperative that we provide the right courses for the right learners to help support the knowledge required to impact productivity. You will be responsible for all of the technical training content for all Databricks customers, partners, and internal employees, across roles and knowledge levels. Â
Mission
This job exists to own and lead Databricks technical training content strategy and development, including:
- Grow the team by sourcing/evaluating/hiring Technical Curriculum Developers
- Manage the team of Technical Curriculum Developers via direct line reports (1-1s, performance reviews, hiring, etc.) and guide Team Leads in development of management skills.
- Along with Team Leads, oversee the development of high-quality courses (slides, videos, SCORM-based), labs, and reference applications
- Act as the strategy owner, you will work cross-functionally to determine curriculum roadmap, customer feedback process, project design docs, design reviews, etc.
Outcomes
- Own and maintain the training curriculum and certification strategy and roadmap that drives adoption of Databricks certifications across all audiences and roles.
- Architect, design/build a solution for the development of self-paced training, including selection, use, and adoption of processes and tools along with consideration of LMS behavior.
- Lead, motivate, develop, retain, and grow the team.
Competencies (skills and experience)
- Curriculum & Certification leadership and management experience with a team of 5+
- Curriculum product management and development experience
- People management skills (1-on-1s, performance reviews, hiring, etc.)
- Project management skills (process design, documentation, implementation, execution)
- Instructional design and pedagogical experience
- Cross-functional experience with driving buy-in and program adoption
- Leading and developing a team in a rapidly changing and evolving environment
- Strong technical aptitude
