Amplify is looking for a strategic and results-oriented Director, Customer Marketing to engage, retain, and cross/upsell to Amplify's customers. Our Customer Engagement team serves as the primary advocates for our customers, guiding them along a path to success and delivering relevant, compelling resources to accelerate the adoption and expansion of our products and services.
This successful marketing professional will work with colleagues on the marketing team as well as cross-functionally with the Customer Success, Sales, Business Systems, and Product teams. The person in this role should have a willingness and desire to think creatively with deep customer understanding, curiosity, and creativity.
The Director, Customer Marketing will serve as the voice of the customer and work cross-functionally to improve the customer experience within the broader Amplify organization. They will guide the creation of content and campaigns to support the adoption and expansion of Amplify programs within school districts.
Essential Responsibilities:
Improve product adoption, usage and retention
  • Build communications that drive adoption and usage via newsletters, onboarding resources, office hours, webinars, and new initiatives
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales team members to build a strategic approach to communications for accounts using multiple Amplify programs
  • Deliver a positive "back to school" customer experience by promoting and evolving our current communications and offerings
  • Develop campaigns for ongoing educator engagement throughout the school year, drawing on new and current resources that have been developed, e.g. regular newsletters, survey tools for teachers and students, templates for defining success metrics for an implementation
  • Craft customer communications when significant product issues arise that affect users throughout the year
  • Plan and handle creative, compelling events that keep customers committed to Amplify.

Build and implement campaigns that drive upselling and cross-selling
  • Create marketing plans in partnership with Sales to help them exceed their targets for cross-selling and upselling.
  • Work closely with product marketing, content marketing and demand generation teams to build content that cross/upsells customers
  • Drive marketing programs that highlight existing product capabilities, improvements and feature launches
  • Implement a range of lifecycle marketing efforts to ensure customers are aware of product innovation and add-on options to enhance lifetime value and customer satisfaction

Build and lead community strategy at Amplify to build customer loyalty and evangelism
  • Maintain, handle and grow community groups across Amplify, including FB groups, Fellows programs, and involvement in new PL offerings
  • Build customer ambassador program blueprint that's scalable and that supports future growth
  • Work closely with Science of Reading collaborators to resolve how to scale and monetize that growing community
  • Build a customer community roadmap, including maintenance and growth of our many Amplify social media channels

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree. Master's degree/MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of customer marketing experience, preferably in the education technology or software/ SaaS industry
  • Excellent public speaking, writing, and storytelling skills
  • Strong program management, cross-functional collaboration, and leadership capabilities
  • Strong technical skills, including familiarity with Salesforce (or other CRM), Wordpress, and Hubspot (or other email service provider).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Data-driven and creative, you employ creativity to try new things and are always learning and refining based on data and reporting
  • Comfortable leading teams and developing alliances cross-functionally to support the customer at every turn
  • Ability and experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Adaptable and open to change.
  • Ability to approach projects both strategically (big picture) and tactically (details).
  • Ability to self-manage and prioritize a multitude of responsibilities and workstreams.
  • Experience in the educational technology industry, software or a related field
