Director, Data

About the Job:

LaunchDarkly is seeking an experienced Director of Data to lead our team of analytics engineers. You will work with our team of analytics engineers and other leaders in the Infrastructure Delivery organization to shape the direction of our data platform. You will guide the growth of the data organization as we scale beyond a single team. And work with stakeholders across the company to deliver metrics that matter to the business.

Responsibilities:

• Proactively assess the needs of our stakeholders and build the fundamental units of reporting used for solving various business problems

• Standardize our data development workflows to alleviate bottlenecks and accelerate team velocity

• Own the uptime and SLAs and operational workflows of our data infrastructure

• Own our data product including roadmaps and stakeholder satisfaction surveys

• Form strong relationships with stakeholders in all departments of the company and drive cross-functional projects

• Work with the teams(s) to refine our best practices e.g. naming convention, data modeling, and data quality testing

• Demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion through both words and actions, building an inclusive culture for the data team and ensuring everyone can fully contribute and feel welcomed and valued

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of professional experience in the data discipline and 3+ years as a director or senior manager

• A BS in computer science, math, or equivalent experience

• You have worked at a SaaS startup and been on the journey from 100s to 1000s of employees

• Experience building and managing a large team or teams

• A sense of empathy and willingness to understand others' viewpoints

• An appetite for learning and teaching

• Someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats

• Ability to understand, tackle, and communicate problems from both technical and business perspectives

• Ability to go deep in the details of data modeling and ETL design when necessary and translate those details into a language our non-technical stakeholders can understand
