Director, Data

We are looking for a Director of Data Engineering to help us evolve our data strategy across Avant focused on both defining the vision and seeing it through to delivery. In this role, you'll be responsible for leading the Data Engineering Team that supports our business teams and championing data being at the heart of everything we do. What you'll do at Avant

• The Director of Data Engineering is responsible for leading a team of data engineers that build, manage and support our enterprise data
• Evolve and accelerate the data strategy at Avant by taking in feedback from internal stakeholders (business and engineering teams) as well as external best practices
• Inspire across the company a data-first mindset
• Provide technical leadership over major initiatives
• Identify and deliver on changes to the operating model with a focus on measuring outcomes
• Deliver a high quality, self service output to the business
• Develop and coach a team of 20+ data engineers
• Advise on data governance and regulatory best practices

Why you are a fit for Avant:

• 12+ year(s) in data or product engineering leadership roles
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Engineering required, Master's degree is a plus
• 8+ years in people management experience with 5+ years managing teams of 10+ including skip level reports
• Experience defining and delivering on a data strategy
• Experience and enthusiasm to recruit and develop data engineering talent
• Experience creating adoption of agile, lean product development best practices
• Ability to develop strong relationships with both your team as well as internal stakeholders
• Experience leading large scale teams through transformations
• Strong familiarity with ML, data and analytics processes and technologies
• Experience working in fintech and/or a similar industry with regulatory requirements
