Job Description:
Liberty Mutual Investments Technology (LMI Tech) is actively searching for a Director of Data Engineering to work across our organization to help design and shape our overall data platform and high performance data engineering strategy. We are looking for someone who is curious, technical, an inspiring leader, enjoys working in a highly collaborative and fast paced environment, and has a strong desire to drive change as we continue our agile transformational journey.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team. You will be responsible for managing a global workforce of data engineers and ensuring that Data Engineering standards and best practices are consistently implemented across a variety of investment products. You will also partner across external Business Units to learn, share, and bring back insights to LMI.
Responsibilities:
โˆ™ Manage a global workforce of data engineers.
โˆ™ Elevate the craft of Data Engineering; Continuously seek to improve!
โˆ™ Ensure Data Engineering standards and best practices are consistently implemented across a variety of investment products.
โˆ™ Influence business and technology peers to achieve common goals
โˆ™ Partner across external Business Units to learn, share, and bring back insights to LMI.
โˆ™ Collaborate with other departments to identify and solve data engineering-related issues.
โˆ™ Manage budgets and resources to deliver against program goals and objectives.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to influence business and technology peers and inspire/motivate a global team
  • Investments domain knowledge of both public and private markets
  • Experience implementing and maintaining Data Engineering standards and best practices
  • Strong understanding of modern data architecture and technologies
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in managing a global workforce
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems
  • Experience with/knowledge of Snowflake, AWS preferred
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time
