As a Data Engineering Director, you will build, coach and mentor a high performing team of Engineers to define, drive and execute on organizational vision. Develop and adhere to processes that allow the team to collaborate with local as well as global teams with a high degree of efficiency. Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop and nurture team of developers by motivating and mentoring and assist in hiring critical talent
  • Mentor junior team members, develop departmental procedures and best practices standards
  • Hire and retain world class talents to deliver data engineering and operations projects.
  • Dynamic leader who has directly managed team of highly competent developers in fast paced work environment

  • Strong business and technical vision
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Responsible for the overall development life cycle of the solution and manage complex projects
  • Work with product owners in developing a strategy and road map to provide compelling capabilities that helps them succeed in their business goals.
  • Work closely with architects, data stewards and internal / external stakeholders

  • Instill best practices for software development and documentation, assure designs meet requirements, and deliver high quality work on tight schedules
  • Own project prioritization, planning of projects and features, stakeholder management and tracking of commitments
  • Operational mindset and ability to bring operational excellence to monitoring and daily maintenance
  • Identify opportunities for further enhancements and refinements to standards and processes
  • Set continuous improvement targets for the team to achieve operational efficiency and reduce technical debts

  • Set quality, productivity, upskilling and innovation goals for team thereby developing a driven and motivated team
  • Provide technology leadership in understanding business problems and coming up with technical solutions with due consideration to performance, cost, scalability, and reliability providing a clear roadmap to implementation
  • Foster and drive a quality mindset that reiterates both a continuous learning and a "right (the) first time" mentality that improves operational efficiencies

Technical and Business Skills

  • Requires 12+ years of experience, at least 8 years of which were in leading engineering teams creating solutions in Big Data platforms and AWS
  • Extensive experience in relational database platform or MPP data warehouse appliance like Teradata

  • Experience building applications using Spark with Java or Scala
  • Experience in building containerized data engineering solutions using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience in Agile software development and CI-CD practices
  • Full Stack Development experience is a big plus
  • Experience with distributed database, distributed computing and high frequency transactions is a plus

  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Dynamic leader who has directly managed team of highly competent developers in fast paced work environment
  • Extensive experience in managing global teams
  • Experience in vendor management
  • Strong business and technical vision

Basic Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
