Responsibilities

The Director of Data Monetization and Governance (working title) is a new senior level position responsible for growing Baker Tilly's data monetization efforts by establishing firmwide data governance processes and monetization program for both internal and external opportunities. This position will team with Service line leaders, Corporate Strategy, the Innovation and Product Solutions Groups and Growth Intelligence to identify, refine, test and develop data driven products and services that enables BT to use 'Data for Good'. This role will develop and maintain a portfolio of internal and external data monetization efforts sponsored by various BT organizations, working in tight collaboration across the firm.

A key enabler of this role will ensure that BT team members are educated in the data and analytic capabilities across the firm, are aware of data assets and ensure the proper use of those assets, establish access and transparency of all analytic initiatives, and ensure data silos and data domains are maintained and adhered to across all monetization efforts.

  • Lead the development and implementation of internal and external data monetization strategy for the organization, aligning it with the overall business strategy.
  • Establish processes and frameworks for data monetization projects, including project management, data governance, and data quality.
  • Facilitate the development and maintenance of data governance-related documentation, such as data dictionaries and metadata.
  • Work with business stakeholders to identify, prioritize and execute data science initiatives that will drive business value.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of data governance policies and procedures, including adherence with data security, data privacy, and data retention policies.
  • Provide thought leadership and stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in data science.
  • Build and manage a team of data scientists and analysts, including hiring, training, and mentoring team members.
  • Manage budgets and resources for the data science COE.
  • Collaborate with IT and other cross-functional teams to ensure that data monetization projects are properly integrated into the organization's systems and processes.
  • Facilitate the sharing of best practices and knowledge within the data science team, as well as with other parts of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership skills: As the leader of the data science team, the Director of Data Monetization will need to have excellent management and communication skills, as well as the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
  • Technical expertise: The Director of Data Monetization should have a deep understanding of data science techniques and technologies, including machine learning, data engineering, and data visualization.
  • Business acumen: The Director of Data Monetization should be able to understand and align data science initiatives with the overall business strategy of the organization.
  • Project management skills: The Director of Data Monetization will be responsible for overseeing multiple data science projects, so they should have strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage resources effectively
  • Communication skills: The Director of Data Monetization will need to be able to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong understanding of data governance best practices and regulations, such as GDPR and HIPAA.
  • Strategic thinking: The Director of Data Monetization should have the ability to think strategically and identify opportunities to leverage data science to drive business value.
  • Collaboration skills: The Director of Data Monetization will need to be able to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including IT, business stakeholders, and other data scientists.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and working with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as computer science, business, or information management required, Master's degree preferred.
  • 10 - 15 years of experience required.
