POSITION SUMMARY: Director, Data Science & Advanced Analytics manages and oversees the Company's operations-related analytics projects. The position oversees a team of data scientists, analysts who will develop tools, using the Company's internal and external data, to identify business and operations insights. This role will work closely with the Business and IT teams to produce analysis, machine learning solutions, and scalable data analytics.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage analytics initiatives to develop tools and analytical insights to support business and strategic decisions.
• Drive data science efforts, communicate cross-functionally, and be a subject matter expert to evangelize the Data Science, ML, and AI at Republic
• Manage and oversee all statistical analyses; develop approach and tools to support analytical analyses. This includes developing models to analyze and interpret data.
• Develop algorithms to optimize data models to solve complex business challenges and drive analytical solutions throughout the organization
• Identify, scope and prioritize projects that improve the business operation
• Work closely with IT and business owners and will guide the team to provide proactive actionable insights to drive the business and ensure reliability and effectiveness of reporting and analysis
• Stay abreast of developments at the intersection of data science, technology, and business relevant to the company and drive business innovation through analytics
• Help your team ideate and execute on the right analysis, models, and stories to drive business outcomes
• Work collaboratively to influence teams across the organization in order to gain support for ideas, proposals, projects that will ultimately provide solutions and deliver results
• Communicate analytical results to senior management in a manner that is clear, concise and translatable to business use.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent negotiating, leadership, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Strong business acumen and experience working with senior level business stakeholders to solve business challenges and identify opportunities to create value in areas such as: dynamic routing, route optimization, predictive maintenance, enhancing safety, workforce planning, etc.
• Experience with cloud technologies and capabilities
• Strong analytical skills with a solid foundation in programming (e.g. R, python, SAS, MATLAB), database environment (e.g. big-data platforms, SQL), and dashboard development (e.g. PowerBI)
• Experience solving business problems through quantitative approaches and machine learning methods as well as vast experience using advanced statistical methods.
• Strong background in Data Science, Machine Learning, NLP, processing of large data sets. Be able to mentor Data Scientists on best practices and development & productize sophisticated models.
• Bachelor's Degree in an analytical area such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Management information Systems, Engineering or similar field

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• 10 years' experience working within data science, analytics, and technology trends and their impact on business strategies and operations
• Excellent cross-organization and communication skills required
