What We Need  

We are looking for a Director, DevOps to join Element Fleet Management.   As the largest pure-play fleet manager in the world, we provide unmatched products and services and solutions to our clients.

As the Director DevOps, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between development and operations, ensuring that our engineering teams can deliver high-quality software at speed while maintaining the reliability, scalability, and security of our services. You will lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. Your efforts will directly impact the flow of value to our customers by improving developer experience, increasing deployment frequency, and ensuring the high availability and reliability of our critical services.

Grow and Empower Our People

  • Hire, Train, and Coach: Recruit top talent to build a high-performing DevOps team. Provide ongoing training, mentorship, and career development opportunities to empower your team members to excel in their roles.
  • Foster Collaboration: Encourage a collaborative environment where team members work closely with developers, QA, security, and operations teams to achieve shared goals.

Increase Flow of Value

  • Improve Developer Experience: Work closely with developers to streamline workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and reduce friction in the development process. Ensure that tools and processes are optimized for developer productivity.
  • Break Down Silos: Implement strategies to eliminate barriers between development and operations teams. Promote shared ownership and accountability for the entire software delivery lifecycle.
  • Reduce Cycle Time: Continuously evaluate and optimize the CI/CD pipeline to minimize the time it takes to go from code commit to production. Implement practices that reduce bottlenecks and improve overall efficiency.
  • Increase Deployment Frequency: Enable the organization to deploy code changes more frequently and confidently. Ensure that automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous deployment practices are robust and scalable.

Ensure High Availability and Reliability of Critical Services

  • Increase Application Reliability: Implement monitoring, alerting, and incident management practices to ensure the stability and performance of our applications. Lead efforts to identify and mitigate risks before they impact users.
  • Shift Security Left: Integrate security practices into the development pipeline, ensuring that security considerations are addressed early and continuously throughout the software delivery process. Promote a culture of security awareness within the team.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Build and maintain an environment where infrastructure can be repeatedly built and replicated with minimal effort. Use IaC practices to ensure consistency, reduce manual intervention, and enable rapid scaling. 

Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
  • Proven experience in a DevOps leadership role, managing teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Expertise in monitoring, logging, and alerting tools
  • Strong understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements
  • Extensive experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions and CircleCI
  • Extensive experience with IaC (Infrastructure as a code) and its tools like Terraform and Ansibles
  • Extensive experience with AWS cloud:  AWS Architecture, CloudFormation, Elastic Beanstalk, AWS OpsWork, CloudWatch, AWS Config
  • Knowledge and experience in using ELB, EC2, ECS, ECR
  • Knowledge and experience in using Serverless solutions, Lambda
  • Networking knowledge (e.g. DNS, routing, firewall configuration)
  • Shell scripting knowledge (Bash and PowerShell)
  • Programming language, like Python, Go, Rust, Ruby
  • Working experience with containers, Docker, and Kubernetes
