Director, Digital Communications

Summary
The Director of Digital Communications is a creative and strategic leader, responsible for developing and executing Workiva’s digital communications strategy. This leader understands content integration and leverages insights to create campaigns that promote Workiva, its brand, its innovative solutions and its thought leaders across multiple channels. As an essential member of the Global Communications Department, the Director of Digital Communications will integrate digital content such as social media into the Company’s overarching marketing and communications strategies to help drive stakeholder engagement and business growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop an earned, owned and paid communications content strategy across multiple platforms and channels and lead execution through creative development, targeting and production.
- Work in partnership with the communications and marketing teams to manage Workiva’s digital reputation and brand as well as to ensure alignment with the overarching narrative, goals and execution.
- Identify new capabilities to improve content performance and regularly educate the team on digital trends that are pertinent to our business (i.e. algorithm changes, mobile update implications, competitor campaigns)
- Assist in creating copy for a variety of multimedia content; including web-based articles, emails, social posts, videos and podcasts.
- Help make content successful by working with other teams to promote content, optimize conversion paths, and build links.
- Set measurable objectives and key performance indicators based on business needs
- Plan for and lead the development of organic social media campaigns by overseeing the day-to-day management of social media communities, adhering to the overarching communications strategy, social strategy and best practice, and tone of voice.
- Manage ongoing optimization of the social strategy, playbook, community management, content creation and UGC to improve delivery and enhance results.
- Assess campaign performance, measuring against campaign goals (ROI and KPIs), and helping teams optimize via insightful actions and recommendations for further impact.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain paid social advertising campaigns, including coordination of assets between agencies and internal teams and budget management.
What You'll Need
Education
- Undergraduate Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in digital media, marketing, or digital communications
Skills
- Successful track record of developing and executing large, cross-channel digital communication activations with measurable results.
- Deep understanding of content strategy, social media platforms and their respective audiences and deployment scenarios, as well as each platform’s business standards and best practices.
- Proven experience with editorial SEO and creating content that ranks and converts, both written and video.
- Proven results building social followings that drive demand
- Demonstrated passion for driving big, creative ideas that drive Workiva’s business and platform strategy, and award-winning culture.
- Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated through working cross-functionally with key global stakeholders to achieve stated goals.
- Ability to simultaneously manage, coordinate, and execute a number of complex projects within stringent timelines and budget parameters.
- Big picture thinker who is passionate about storytelling.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
