Responsible for managing Distribution technology assets, implementing enhancements, driving process efficiencies and supporting enterprise data and reporting strategies. Will define, build and maintain technology products meeting customer needs over the product-market lifecycle. Leads the effort to build best practice and user adoption in support of all Business Unit, Field, Broker/Agent and Insured focused strategies. Partners with CNA's Technology and Analytics teams to support enterprise data and technology strategies and develop distribution channel views.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
  • Owns CNA's pipeline management application (Salesforce), broker/agent hierarchy platform (CHAMP) and any future applications supporting supplemental compensation and insured 360. Builds the strategy to enable all applications to support business initiatives, defines goals and creates a vision for reporting and key performance indicators (KPIs). Updates strategy and KPIs based on evolving business needs.
  • Develops relationships with Broker Strategy and Field Operations teams to understand the business unit, field and distribution strategies and creates corresponding roadmaps that define application and/or operational requirements. Collaborates with functional areas across the enterprise to operationalize and optimize broker and insured strategies.
  • Develops relationships and regular communication cadence with the vendors and/or architecture teams to leverage platform capabilities which enhance user experience, ensure strategic alignment and drive value.
  • Defines, manages and prioritizes business strategy and objectives, understanding dependencies to effectively sequence development activities. Point of contact to key stakeholders for communications and issue resolution.
  • Leads project prioritization processes, linking to key business priorities. Leads the creation of project management plans that clearly define the project scope, assumptions, risks and overall project approach including timelines and project communications.
  • Implements project processes and metrics to drive accountability, ensures project goals and objectives are achieved, and communicates progress to key stakeholders.
  • Builds supporting training materials, job aids and communications plans to support change management activities as applications are enhanced and/or new platforms are implemented.
  • May lead and direct the work activities and have full management responsibility for the performance and development of subordinate staff in accordance with corporate strategic direction.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry; including the relationship between a P&C carrier and its distribution partners and understanding of the company's products, services and goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong, influential relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written. Proficiency to facilitate meetings of high value and complexity.
  • Identify opportunities to build new capabilities and integrate data to improve business processes.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, solution design and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of agile project methodology principals and scrum process with proven ability to plan, manage and refine product backlog and releases across multiple teams/projects.
  • Proven expertise in fostering teams and managing competing expectations and priorities. Helps others excel through collaboration and building strong relationships.
  • Strong confidence, judgment and decision-making skills. Acts with a sense of urgency and commitment to prioritize work and solve issues according to business impact and achieve concrete results. Maximizes return on investment for project and program initiatives.
  • Ability to creatively and effectively manage through challenging situations, leading stakeholders through change. Good conflict resolution skills.
  • Track record of continuous learning, adapting to new ways of working, learning from mistakes, and embracing ambiguity.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or its equivalent in experience.
  • Typically a minimum of seven years' experience in business analysis or other related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of agile product owner experience
  • Minimum of 5 years insurance Industry knowledge and experience
  • Certified product owner certifications a plus
