Job Summary

The Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), will play a critical role in developing and executing the organization's diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy. Responsibilities include building partnerships with key cross functional partners including the Executive Team, People and Culture, Operations, Marketing, ESG, Communications, Supplier Diversity, Business Resource Groups (BRGs), and more. This role will require significant focus in the areas of: organizational change, strategic internal and external relationships, learning, facilitation, analytics and project management to advance a culture of equity and inclusion and increase diverse representation at all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will excel in achieving results, building trust, adapting to change, and business priorities.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions:

DEI Strategy - Develop corporate-wide diversity, equity and inclusion framework, vision, goals and practices. Ensure impactful diversity and inclusion programs, practices and engagement while adhering to all compliance and regulatory requirements. Review current practices and policies, assessing and analyzing the extent to which they support or hinder the company's diversity goals. Develop and deliver presentations for the Board of Directors, the DEI Advisory Council and other key partners. Research and provide competitive insights to drive an equitable and inclusive culture.

Business Relationships - Deliver learning experiences to develop leaders who model and drive inclusive behaviors. Consult with People and Culture leaders and Executives to develop and integrate analytics-driven DEI strategies into line of business plans that align with our business objectives. Research and partner with Talent Acquisition to develop strategic efforts to attract and hire Executive level diverse talent. Evaluate and report the effectiveness of diversity activities and their impact on business results. Establish and maintain excellent relationships across key organizational roles including the Executive Team, People and Culture Leadership Team, Employment Counsel, ERG Executive Sponsors. ERG Co-Chairs, and employee cultural ambassadors.

Market Analysis - Continuously enhance DEI practices by providing insights that increase awareness of market and industry trends and sharing best practices to support an inclusive environment across the organization. Strategize with other DEI leaders in developing processes to influence Business Resource Groups (BRGs), and consult with industry leaders on best practices.

Communication - Communicate progress: Partner with internal communications, Public Relations, and Marketing to build and lead communication plans to update Executive, Board, and other internal and external partners on progress.

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements: • Normal office environment. As a senior leader, must work at a Bread Financial office a minimum of 5 days per month. • Ability to travel 5 days a month if not located near a Bread Financial office.

Minimum Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree. • 10+ years of experience in leadership, Human Resources, Organizational Development and Effectiveness, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) or experience in a related role.• Experience leading and analyzing company demographics, assessing trends, and providing data-informed insights.

Preferred Qualifications:• Specific DE&I training or Certification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:• Managing change with an understanding of the contexts, cultures and politics within institutions that impact the implementation of effective change efforts.• Superior collaboration and communication skills with executive presence. • Strong presentation skills and comfort level with addressing groups of all types and sizes.• Ability to influence effectively, open-minded and passionate about DEI work and impact on business.• Exceptional oral and written communication skills with experience in multiple communication modes, including social media.• Experience identifying and implementing standard methodologies with a command of DEI concepts, challenges, and opportunities.• Strong business acumen with the ability to understand business and project objectives and their impact on the broader business.• Communicates in clear and compelling ways (written and verbal) and adapts appropriately for the environment.• Demonstrated cultural awareness and agility and ability to build trust, credibility and navigate a complex landscape.• Translates and communicates strategy into simple, actionable plans, priorities, and trade-offs.

Typical Starting Range:

$131,700.00 - $272,700.00

Full Salary Range for position:

California:$151,600.00 - $340,900.00

Colorado:$131,700.00 - $286,400.00

New York:$144,800.00 - $340,900.00

Washington:$138,300.00 - $313,900.00

The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.

Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates can immediately enroll in Bread Financial's 401(k) plan.

All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Associates have discretion in managing their time away from work through the Flexible Time Off (FTO) program and may need to notify and receive approval from their manager prior to taking the time off. Associates receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safety Time per calendar year at the beginning of each year and is prorated in the associate's first year of employment.

Hired associates will be able to elect to purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December. You will be eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.
